King of the Hammers

Ultra 4 is starting their season with the King of the Hammers, a week long show of speed and determination on the desert.

The biggest even of the week is happening in Johnson Valley, California close to 29 Palms. Over 50,000 people are camping in the desert in what could be called Burning Man for Gear Heads as Ultra 4 begins its season.

The week is full of races leading to the big one Friday when the 4400’s take to the desert and rocks at the Nitto . Tire King of the Hammers. They’ll be going from 150 mph across the desert to about 3 mph or less in the rock sections.

You can check the schedule and watch it live at www.ultra4racing.com. Friday’s race will be a long one so you can still some of it if you get off work in time. And most of the competitors will be at Wild West Motorsports Park in October for the Nitto Tire Nationals.

Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing from New Smyrna Speedway. Racing beings at 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Finally, starting at 2 p.m. the network airs the opening round of the Mello Yellow NHRA season from Pomona as the straight-line racers take to the track with their own brand of thunder and lightening.
