  • OFF ROAD SEASON REVIEW

    Fallon 250

This Off Road Season for the four-wheel bunch has been a good one in this area. There were several races in our region and the Wild West Motorsports Park hosted four of them. Valley Off Road Racing Association kicked things off with their first desert race on Memorial Day weekend with an event in Hawthorne. This after they began their season in Prairie City. Earlier in the season Hammer King, which owns the Ultra4 Series and runs the annual King of the Hammers race, bought VORRA and now that series is run by NorCal Rock Racing. Both VORRA and Ultra4

  • DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS AND SUPER CRAWL

Rattlesnake Raceway: Chase Nieman IMCA DTC

This was a weekend of contrasts between two events. FALLON (Sept 24/25) – Dirt Track Championships and Super Crawl were two very different four-wheel events that dominated the racing in this area. One was fast while the other was way more technical and a heck of a lot slower. For the past two decades the annual DTC as it’s known ends the season at Rattlesnake Raceway located just east of downtown Fallon. Not only is money at stake but bragging rights as well. The weekend has two complete shows, one Saturday evening while the second is Sunday afternoon. And a

But on the track the racing was as hot as ever. “Yesterday before the race I was told I had never won Pro 2 here and I was little bit surprised,” Rob MacCachren said after winning Sunday’s race. “We came here with a fast truck, learned some stuff at Glen Helen, brought it over here and the truck was

  • EPA RULE THREATENS RACING – EDITORIAL

    EPA Editorial

This reporter has never done an editorial on racing but this time I’m going to make an exception. Please read this carefully and help save our sport. Over the past year this reporter has heard rumblings about the EPA’s attempt to essentially restrict the conversion of a vehicles originally designed for on-street use to a racing vehicle. After receiving the latest issue of Racing Promotion Monthly, a publication for the short track industry, I decided to write this editorial. And for those that don’t know people involved in short track racing, fans or drivers, it concerns all types of racing

  • MRANN – BLUE WING FLAT VIDEO

MRANN - Keith Alosi and Wayne Weidemier

Here is the MRANN video from Blue Wing Flat. Please excuse the error I made in the video title, my fault entirely. Once again I’m indebted to the efforts of Brittany Hutchings as she took care of the video duties. Many thanks to her and hopefully she can continue to help me. Can’t do both the video and stills at the same time. It was great weather and good fields so the promise of a great season is being realized. Good hard racing with only one rider needing much medical attention. Not to mention getting a helicopter ride to Reno.

  • Austin Serpa – MRANN 2015 CHAMPION

MRANN - Austin Serpa, 2015 Overall Champion.

Austin Serpa had a championship year this season as he raced his KTM in area desert races. Winning races is the goal of any racer and while most never accomplish this they have fun trying. However some do win titles and earning an overall championship in their rookie year is an even greater accomplishment. And that’s exactly what one 16-year-old high school racer did this past season. Like many motorcycle racers, he got an early start in the two-wheeled world. “I remember when I first started riding I was about 2-years-old with some training wheels on a little PW50,” Austin
