    Season preview for this week highlights our region’s oval tracks. Despite the storms, rain, snow and maybe mud, their seasons will start within the next two months. So right now drivers and their crews/helpers are working to get their cars and Outlaw Karts ready to go. Before racing begins the tracks host tune and testing days, also called Play Days so drivers can get their edge back. Also it gives rookies a chance to see how their rides are and improve their skills. Depending on the weather the Winnemucca Regional Speedway starts off with a Play Day on Saturday March

    Even at this late date there is still racing to see or watch. Racing preview for this weekend reflects the shrinking of events as series are winding up. While the pickings are getting slimmer in the two-wheeled world the racing is still hot and heavy. The big event this weekend will be when MRANN makes its annual visit to Moon Rocks for the Halloween Hare Scrambles presented by the Rimbenders and Cheaters Motorcycle Clubs.     After last week’s rains washed out all but one event this week promises good racing weather. Racing preview for this week has a banquet of different events for almost any racing fan. Locally Rattlesnake Raceway will be dark this Saturday due to a national shooting match at the gun club. The track and club share a hill and usually alternate weekends.   • Motorsport Preview: April 21/24-2016

    Another weekend is ahead of us with another buffet of racing events. This week’s Motorsport Preview is another mixed bag of events that includes a special one in our area. This big event will be at Fernley 95A Speedway as the track hosts a double header with the BCRA Midgets and the Nevada Pro Stock Association joining the regular classes. The last NPSA winner Robert Miller should again be in B.J. Pearson’s Nuclear Banana car. If he also races his IMCA modified he’ll be going for his 100th victory in that class.     This week there is racing live, on TV and the Internet. Racing preview for this week has a mix of events for both the two-wheel and oval track fans. Once again there will be no practice at the Livfast Exit 28 motocross track as they are preparing for their next race.     Finally racing has begun in earnest here in this area as the Speed Merchants entertain their fans. Racing preview for this week is pretty full now that the Easter Holiday is behind us. Series, both here nationally and internationally, will be at full throttle. Locally the oval track season is progressing as Rattlesnake Raceway opens its 2016 season Saturday.
