RACING CALENDAR – OCT. 30 – NOV. 2

Only one event in our area this week as the desert racers of MRANN return to Moon Rocks and bring back their traditional Halloween event, the Purge 100 Hare Scrambles.

As an added incentive to those racers left out due to the fact there was no fall motocross season, except for the race the local OTHG chapter staged last week, MRANN is offering a free one-day card.

The action begins Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. when the Pee Wee racers take to their short track. Then at 12:30 p.m. the Mini Bikes, Saturday Women and Bombers start their event that last 90 minutes.

Later that evening the various camps will have a decorating contest and the kids also have a costume contest.

Sunday is for the big bikes and their race starts at 10 a.m. on a 25-mile long course that loops back through the pits. A rider must complete two laps to be considered a finisher.

And on Sunday their will also be a costume contest for the adult racers.

With only three events left in the season riders will be trying to secure championship points as well as their place in the final standings.

NASCAR’s season is also winding down with only three events left. This week the top series are at the Texas Motor Speedway.

On Friday, at 5:30 p.m., the Camping World Truck race is broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Then at 12:30 p.m. Saturday the Nationwide series takes to the track in a race broadcast on ESPN 2.

Finally at noon on Sunday the Sprint Cup Series begins it elimination rounds for the championship as the race is broadcast on ESPN.

Those having MAVTV can watch a rerun of the Lucas Oil Off Road series at the Wild West Motorsports Park. This time the Pro 4 and Buggy classes will be featured in a Thursday broadcast beginning at 6 a.m.

Then on Sunday at noon and 3 p.m. the Pro Lite and Pro 2 races from the season ending event in Las Vegas will be shown.
