Biggest happening in Nevada is down south where NASCAR has invaded Las Vegas for its Sprint Cup Championship week. And on Wednesday it was announced that Fox Sports and NBC Sports are combining forces to televise NASCAR events.

The agreement is for 10-years with Fox doing the first half of the season, including the Daytona 500 and NBC Sports taking the second half, which will include the Chase for the Championship.

On Friday Fox Sports 1 begins it’s broadcast with Race Hub starting at 5 p.m. followed by the Sprint Cup Awards banquet beginning at 6 p.m.

The same day is the start of the Henderson 250, season’s final race for the Best in the Desert series. There should be some local motorcycle racers competing in that event.

Thursday and Friday the annual western meeting of the RPM Workshop is in town. It’s a private meeting for short track promoters where they exchange ideas and listen to speakers delivering ways to improve these small business operations.

On Saturday evening the Northern Nevada Kart Club will host their annual awards banquet at the Grand Sierra Hotel and Casino. Among the champion and volunteers the club will announce it’s highest award, Karter of the Year.

NBC Sports has some motorsports events on Sunday as they broadcast two Motorsport Hour shows starting at 2 to 5 p.m. followed by tractor pulls at 7:30 p.m.

Those that have MAVTV, either through the cable or satellite systems have several choices this weekend.

On Saturday, at 1p.m., they will rerun the Denver round of this year’s Endurocross series.

Sunday is a busy day starting at 10 a.m. with the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series. Then at 2 p.m. they rerun the Pro 4 and Pro Buggy races in the Lucas Oil Off Road series at Lake Elsinore, Calif. followed two repeats of the Dave Despain show beginning at 5 p.m.
