RACING PREVIEW – APRIL 16-19

LAST MINUTE UPDATES FOR INDY CAR AND F-1

This week’s racing preview is reflecting that the season in this area is in high gear as about every series and most of the tracks have begun their 2015 season.

Now that the Reno chapter of the Old Timers MX is getting back on its feet they, with the help of the Over the Hill Gang, are going to wind up the spring motocross season with the biggest race in the region.

This Saturday and Sunday, at the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track the club will host a round of the Old Timers national series. It’s two days of racing at the Sandbox with a special Vintage/Bomber and supporting races.

In fact any supporting racers are welcome as there are events for those wanting to get more racing time.

The Fernley 95A Speedway is hosting a different event Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. as they have a demolition derby, mud bogs and chain races.

Further east Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon hosts another of its points races featuring the car classes as well as the Northern Nevada Outlaw Karts.

Then on Sunday, beginning around noon, the Northern Nevada Kart Club stages its second points race of the season at Desert Park Raceway. It’s located on the dirt extension of Lemmon Valley Drive.

Those off road racers that compete in the VORRA series will be over the hill at the Prairie City complex by Rancho Cordova.

On Friday, Fox Sports 1 will be full of NASCAR practice and qualifying as both the Xfinity and Sprint Cup series tackle Bristol Motor Speedway.

On the Internet there will be several races shown on Fanschoice.tv. It’s a channel NASCAR developed to show various series that TV usually doesn’t cover.

On Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Xfinity race from Bristol Motor Speedway.

Then at noon MAVTV has a show about the FIA World Rally Championship for this year.
