RACING PREVIEW – JULY 2-5

Racing preview for this weekend has a mix of local and national events to see.

Racing this week is a bit light locally but heavy on the TV and Internet side of things.

Things actually begin as Baldini’s Casino on Sparks is hosting its Freedom Festival. Highlighting Saturday is a visit from Livfast Freestyle MX riders.

These guys will be jumping their motorcycles high in the air and doing tricks up there as well. Times are 2, 4 and 8 p.m. and it’s always a good show.

And if a person still wants their racing fix and a fireworks show, two regional tracks can fill that need.

Sometime, probably around 9 p.m. racing will be stopped for the town’s fireworks display, held at the track. It’s usually a great show and takes up around 40 minutes to complete.

North of here, in Susanville, California, Diamond Mountain Speedway, at the Lassen County Fairgrounds, also has racing and fireworks. Their show starts around 7 p.m.

Thursday’s TV begins early as CBS Sports airs the V8 Supercars starting at 2 a.m. then at 11 a.m. MAVTV has the World Rally from Poland.

Friday is all about NASCAR as NBC Sports airs practice sessions for the Xfinity and Sprint Cup series from Daytona.

This is the week when the NASCAR broadcasts switch from Fox to NBC.

Saturday begins on MAVTV at 3 a.m. with another broadcast from the World Rally in Poland. Then at 10 a.m. the network broadcasts the latest round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series from Red Creek.
