Livfast Exit 28 – Night MX

Livfast Exit 28 and Moto Source teamed up to host a night of motocross action.

PATRICK (July 18) – Livfast Exit 28, with title sponsor Moto Source staged the year’s only night motocross. Usually there aren’t any races like this in the area so around 200 riders showed up to take advantage of this one off event.

With so many classes to combine or run separately it took 17 motos to give everyone a chance to race. After the first set then the order started all over again.

In motocross the second moto is the money round as a rider’s overall score determines the winner for each class and division.

One of the races combined six different classes into one group. While there was only one pro, Tyler Moore, he was after the overall victory like others in his group.

He did win but was chased the entire race.

“I just got a really good start and tried to keep my own pace the whole moto,” Moore said. “You know those old guys are fast and they’re right on me so they were keeping me honest and I like that stuff. I’m the only one out there riding a two-stroke, just trying to keep it fun while I still have a day job.”

When the gate dropped on the second moto Moore took off again but this time he had Zane Roberts not too far behind him. Round and round they went as they tore over the jumps and through the corners.

After taking the second checked flag of the night Moore said, “Got a good start, led my own laps and tried to pull away but they kept me honest. I started to tighten up a little bit but just pushed through it and rode my own lines.Track’s really good, ton of lines, good ruts, Tim O’Brien always puts on a good track, can’t thank him enough.”

Then he thanked Tech Designs and Jamie Bonner for his help, his family, girlfriend and mechanic Wally.

When the gate dropped for the second 250/450 Pro and Intermediate moto Justin Minsch jumped into the lead with Aaron Siminoe right behind him.

Lap after lap they ran nose-to-tail, never more than a foot or two apart as they left everyone else in their dust. Minsch would pull a slight gap going down the back straight and over jumps then Siminoe would erase that advantage in the tighter sections.

In fact they were almost side-by-side at the checkered flag.

After catching his breath Minsch said, “That was a good one there and I knew he was there the whole time. It was hard to see, due to the glare on my goggles, but glad I could keep it together and win that one. The big jump is pretty fun, kind of dark but the track was good so it was a good day.”

Then he gave special thanks to his father for his help and his girlfriend for her help.

Hunter Roberts led the charge when the second 125/250F Junior moto began but Tyrell Pedotti got stuck in the gate. One he free the Alturas, California rider began his charge to the front.

Up front Roberts began to fade then Cole Carmichael too the point but Pedotti was close behind. Then he picked them off one by one until he took over the point.

From that point on it was Pedotti’s race.

“I got a bad start, got stuck in the gate,” he said. “Then Roberts made a mistake in front me and I was able to get past him. Then I was behind Cole (Carmichael) and he made a mistake in the next corner so I was able to get around him and I had the lead.”

Then he thanked his parents, granddad, Testa Motorsports, Pedotti Livestock, Pedotti Transportation, Leatt Neck Grace and the Simones.

There was a club race that was combined with the Women and 30+ Beginner classes. Layne Kolbet led the charge when the second moto began after Jeff Simas, who won the first one hit a mud puddle.

After Simas got up and going he began his charge through the pack. Not far behind Kolbet at this time was Shami Potratz, who not only was second overall but led the Women’s class.

By lap three Simas was closing in on Kolbet and soon took over the lead. From there it was clear sailing for the Sparks rider.

In the first Woman’s moto Jordan Beck won the and was also in the top three at the end. But in the second moto she was in the pack while Potratz was ahead and her 2-1 finish was good enough for the over all class victory.

At the end of the second moto Simas said, “I fell down in the second corner, hit a serious mud hole and it just sucked in my front wheel. Just stopped me cold, and it was kind of comical actually. Got back up pretty close to the back then just cruised to the win so that’s pretty cool.”

Then he thanked sponsors, Reno KTM, Red Bull, Fast House, Troy Lee Designs, Dubach Racing, Reno KTM, Husqvarna, X Brand Goggles and Tech One Designs for their support.

In motocross there is a class for almost everybody. At the top of the age scale, in the 52+ class Lonnie Madsen, Bill Webb and Allen Rudd won their divisions.

Pee Wee racer Adam Glaster won the 7+ division.

65cc Beginner

Connor Gaarentstroom won the 65cc Beginner overall victory.

Simas was one of the riders that scored two victories that night, one in the Club race and the other in the 25+ Open class. Dylan Thorwaldson also scored a double when he won the Supermini and 85cc Junior overall victories.
