RACING PREVIEW: OCT. 8 THROUGH 11

 

Racing Preview has another varied menu even though racing is winding down.

This week still has some local events, even though the season is winding down. And, of course there is still plenty of action on TV and the Internet.

Locally the action begins on Friday night when Fernley 95A Speedway has the main events that were rained out last Saturday. The action begins at 8 p.m. and is the final points races of the season.

95A Speedway begins a two-night and one afternoon marathon of racing to end its 2015 season.

Then on Saturday 95A Speedway is again in action starting at 6 p.m. as it begins the annual two-day show. The small cars run their mains while all the other classes will do two sets of heat races to set their grids for Sunday’s action.

On Sunday area motocross riders compete in the second round of this year’s fall MX series. The first moto is slated to begin at 9 a.m. at the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track just west of the Veteran’s Cemetary.

The second round of this fall’s Motocross series takes to the track on Sunday.

Up the road a few miles 95A Speedway begins the second day of its marathon show with a 2 p.m. start to the action. The afternoon will end with a 50-lap main for the IMCA Modifieds that has a pit stop at the 25-lap mark.

And as an early head’s up, the Ultra 4 Nationals will be at Wild West Motorsports Park on Saturday the 17th. More on that in next week’s preview.

Over on TV Thursday is full of NASCAR practice sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m. on NBC Sports. Then at 5 p.m. CBS Sports has the Speed Energy Off Road race.

Friday begins early at 4 a.m. as NBC Sports has Formula 1 practice from Russia. Then at 5 p.m. NBC Sports airs the Xfinity race from Charlotte.

Saturday also has an early start as NBC Sports, starting at 5 a.m., shows Formula 1 qualifying. Then at 4 p.m. the network shows the Sprint Cup Race from Charlotte. Last week Kevin Harvick won the race at Dover and secured a sort as the chase continues.

Finally, at 10 p.m., Fox Sports 1 airs a Moto GP Championship race.

NBC Sports will broadcast the Russian Grand Prix, it will be shown live starting at 3 a.m. or repeated on tape delay starting at 9 a.m.

NBC Sports also has a Motorsports Hour starting at 2 p.m. while CBS Sports airs motorcycle racing beginning at 1 p.m. Then at 5 p.m. the Lucas Oil Off Road races from Mexico are shown starting at 5 p.m.

Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has a varied menue from short tracks and will even broadcast an AMA Hill Climb. Check the website for times.

With racing winding down this will be a good weekend to get out to one of our local tracks. There is nothing more exciting to attend a race where you can experience all the action motor sports has to offer.
