RACING PREVIEW: FEB. 4-7

Even though there’s not much racing going on there is a major desert event this week.

RENO (Feb. 3) – The Racing Preview for this week is still sparse but there is some action to be watched.

Livfast Exit 28 Motocross Track.

Area motocross riders can get some seat time this weekend at Livefast Exit 28 Motocross track.

Locally Livfast Exit 28 Motocross Track should have its usual practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

And a special shout out for two area drivers heading to Yuma, Arizona. Shawn Natenstedt and Jake Holland will compete in the Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The event is broadcast live on www.speedshift.com, which is a pay for view service.

This week’s Supercross event in Arizona, and will be aired live on Fox Sports 2, which many people don’t have. But the event itself will be repeated on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 11 p.m. Saturday evening.

The biggest motorsports event of the week is the annual King of the Hammers event at Johnson Valley, California outside of 29 Palms.

During a power hour, Andrew McLaughin flipped his machine. He landed on his wheels and continued with the run. He and others are competing in this week’s King of the Hammers event.

The competitors have been racing all week and the big Unlimited event is on Friday. The action can be watched on the Internet where as they are streamed on, www.ultra4racing.com/live.

Over on TV, on this Super Bowl weekend, there’s not much although NBC Sports as well as Fox Sports 1 and 2 will have various NASCAR programs on Thursday and Friday.

Same on the weekend but Saturday, Fox Sports 2 at 5 p.m. will have the Formula E race from Buenos Aires, Argentina. They’ll repeat the broadcast, starting at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Fox Sports 1.

Over on the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv will have Amsoil Championship Snocross from Salamanca, New York on Friday and Saturday.

This is motocross using a snomobile. You’ll have to check the site for starting times as they weren’t available when this report was posted.

That’s it for this week but it is truly the lull before the storm. Desert motorcycle racing begins in this area in two weeks as does NASCAR Speed Weeks in Daytona and the NHRA is about to kick off its 2016 season.
