RACING PREVIEW: FEB. 11 THROUGH 14

It’s finally here, the long wait is over as it’s the start of season when motors roar and the green flags wave.

Racing preview this time has a host of events that one can view as well as the first race in our area to get this season started.

East of Fernley and 10 miles north of the Nightingale exit on I-80 is where the Trail Blazers motorcycle club will host the first MRANN race of the year. It’s the Fireball Ridge 100, the 18th Hare and Hound race.

On Saturday the Pee Wee racers get things started at 10 a.m. followed by the Mini Bikes, V Women, Vintage and Bomber bike. Then at 2 p.m. there is a new race, a 90-minute team race.

Sunday is when the big bikes get their turn as the action begins at 10 a.m. and riders must complete one lap to be classified as a finisher.

Closer to home Livfast Exit 28 Motocross Track will host practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Once again Livfast Exit 28 Motocross tracks will host practice sessions Saturday and Sunday.

The TV viewing is pretty full this week. On Thursday at 11 a.m. MAVTV broadcasts the World Rally event form Sweden.

Fox Sports 1, on Friday has NASCAR Sprint Unlimited practices.

Then early Saturday morning, at 1 a.m. MAVTV airs another World Rally broadcast from Sweden. At 10 a.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the ARCA race from the Daytona International Speedway.

This race really signals the start of racing for Daytona Speedweeks.

At 5 p.m. Fox has the NASCAR Sprint Unlimited race for those that won pole positions last season.

And at 7 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Supercross from Oakland.

Sunday, at 3 a.m. on MAVTV there is another installment of the World Rally event, once again from Sweden.

At 11 a.m. Fox has NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying from Daytona. This only sets the front row for the 500 while the rest of the places will be set next Thursday in the Duel races.

Then at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the NHRA Winternationals for Pomona, California to start the straight line racing year.

Over on the Internet, starting at 4:30 p.m. www.fanschoice.tv has short track racing from New Smyrna Speedway on Friday and Saturday.

If that isn’t enough fanschoice.tv will air more racing next week starting Monday and going through Saturday at 4:30 p.m. each night.

After the winter lull there is something for just about any racing fan. Spring must be in the air because racing has begun for this year.

MODIFIED Schedule: June 25/26 Tonopah, NV

June 27/28 Hawthorne, NV

June 29/30 Lovelock, NV

July 1/2 Fernley, NV

July 3/4 Fallon, NV

IMCA RULES AND POINTS FOR EACH NIGHT. SEPARATE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP. Each track will run the show with input from me as series co-ordinator.

PAYOUTS: 1k to win, 500, 400, 300, 250, 200, 175, 150, 125, 100 (10-20) 20 car main events. This is a floor, not a ceiling, and solid car counts will increase the payouts and/or allow payback into B main. Reduction is 2nd/3rd place from previously posted is due to insurance increases for tracks.

FEES: $100 Car/Driver each night. Pit passes $30.00 each night

$50 per driver series registration fee. To run one night, you must pay the fee. This covers awards, start up costs, admin costs-any leftover money will be ADDED to series purse and/or returned to drivers in some other manner (hard luck, hard charger, fast time of night, etc)

TRANSPONDERS: Mandatory (rental @$25 per night)

HOBBY STOCKS: Must be legal under Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon, NV rules. Period. No exceptions.

The tour was divided into a Northern and a Southern section to keep costs for drivers down. There will be two titles, a Southern and a Northern. If you want to run all shows you can.
