Racing is really heating up as series are getting started both nationally and internationally week.

Racing preview for this week has local happenings that lead into the new season, which starts next week.

Out in the Fallon area two tracks have having test-and-tune sessions. South of town, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Top Gun Raceway has testing for drag racers.

Just east of downtown, Rattlesnake Raceway is having its practice or play day probably starting around 10 a.m.

Northern Nevada Kart Club will be in action Sunday with its annual Practice Race Day at Desert Park Raceway. The track is located about quarter mile on the dirt extension of Lemmon Valley Drive.

Things get going at 7 a.m. with registration then everyone gets to get ready and test their karts with practice races.

This weekend, beginning on Friday is Al Lockett’s big show that includes the Reno Off-Road and Motorsports Expo. It’s held at the convention center and hours are, Friday, 11 until 9, Saturday 11 until 7 and on Sunday 11 until 5 p.m.

Race fans have a full buffet of events to watch on TV this weekend.

On Thursday NBC Sports gets things rolling at 3:30 p.m. with the first practice for the Formula One series from Australia. Then at 10:30 p.m. they show the second practice.

At 5 p.m. CBS Sports has a World Challenge event.

On Friday, starting at 10:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has a bunch of NASCAR related shows with practice and qualifying from Fontana. Then at 11 p.m. NBC Sports airs Formula One qualifying.

This weekend the annual 12-Hours of Sebring will be run.

Saturday begins at 7:30 a.m. as Fox Sports 1 begins broadcasting the Mobile 12 Hours of Sebring. The broadcast will bounce around between that channel and Fox Sports 2.

This week’s Supercross race will be broadcast on Fox Sports 2. However keep an eye on the TV schedules for Sunday through Tuesday as the race is usually rebroadcast on Fox Sport 1 in the early hours of the morning. And if they doesn’t work then check my comment on where you can see it in the Internet section of this report.

Then at 1 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the Xfinity race from Fontana. And at 9 p.m. NBC Sports has the Grand Prix of Australia as the Formula One season gets going.

CBS Sports gets Sunday rolling, starting at 9 a.m. with three hour long shows consisting of a World Challenge Event, Australian V-8 Supercars and finally Snomobile Racing.

Then at 10 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Gaternationals from Florida and at noon Fox broadcasts the Sprint Cup Event from Fontana as NASCAR ends its western swing.

The Internet is also full of racing, especially on www.fanschoice.tv.

On Thursday the Porsche GT3 race from Sebring will be streamed starting at 12:45 p.m. then on Friday the next GT3 race will be streamed starting at 6:10 a.m.

Friday continues at 9:20 a.m. when the Sebring 150 will be streamed followed at 12:30 p.m. with qualifying for the 12-hour race.

Then on Saturday the online broadcast of the 12-Hours of Sebring starts at 7 a.m. and it can also be seen on www.imsa.com.

For NASCAR, Indy Car and Supercross fans that don’t have cable or satellite service you can still watch these races on a delayed basis.

Go to www.youtube.com and put the name of the series in the search box. For Supercross fans you can either watch the entire event or select the mains you want to watch and remember the latest races are a few pages back in the selection.
