Biggest event in our area is the 45th annual Virginia City Grand Prix. A must do race for most off road motorcycle racers and a victory that many covet but few earn.

The Comstock Classic starts on main street at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riders line up in rows of 10 and are launched a few seconds apart.

There are some “head start” positions that are auctioned off for the benefit of local charities up there.

Both days are timed races and the pro event on Saturday is four hours from start until the checkered flag comes out. Sunday is for Amateurs, Women, Bombers and Vintage Bikes that have their own special loop, and this race is three hours until the checkered flag waves.

For motocross racers the next round of the 775 Spring Classic series will be run by the Old Timers Club at the Fernley Lion’s Club Motocross Track, or the Sandbox. Practice is on Saturday followed by racing on Sunday, which should get going around 10 a.m.
