RACING PREVIEW: MAY 12 TO 15, 2016

After last week’s rains washed out all but one event this week promises good racing weather.

Racing preview for this week has a banquet of different events for almost any racing fan.

Locally Rattlesnake Raceway will be dark this Saturday due to a national shooting match at the gun club. The track and club share a hill and usually alternate weekends.

American Valley Speedway in Quincy will finally get its season going Saturday. Mud packing begins at 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. start to the action.

Last year the track got a lot of new clay so it should be even faster and this week has a $1,000 to win purse for the IMCA Modifieds.

That same night over in Marysville the River Front MX Park is beginning its Saturday night series for motocross races.

Many area motocross racers will spend the weekend in Winnemucca for the final round of the 775 Spring Classic MX Series.

Saturday’s practice sessions are from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. then on Sunday the gate opens at 6 a.m. followed by practice at 8 a.m. and there is a 9 a.m. start to the first motos.

On Tuesday I made a mistake while on Teresa’s Garage radio show regarding Livfast Exit 28 MX track. The facility is closed this weekend but reopens next weekend with practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club will host a points race at Desert Park Raceway, located a quarter mile on the dirt extension of Lemmon Valley Drive. The action should begin around 10 a.m. and there are two heats as well as a main event for each class.

And there is a racing banquet over on TV.

On Thursday, streamed through NASCAR Follow Live, the Camping World Trucks take to the Monster Mile at Dover for practice and qualifying with a 11 a.m. start time.

The Camping World Truck race begins at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 and is followed, starting at 4:30 p.m. with NHRA Qualifying from Atlanta.

Saturday also has an early start as Formula 1 teams qualify starting at 5 a.m. on NBC Sports.

Then at 11 a.m. Fox broadcasts the Xfinity race from Dover. At 12:30 p.m. ABC airs the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, this event is at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and begins the run up to the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500.

Then beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1, the NHRA takes to the dragstrip at Atlanta.

Over on CBS Sports there is a long list of racing beginning at 10 a.m. with Motocross from Italy followed by the Blancpain Endurance series, a couple of other races and, at 5 p.m., the Lucas Oil Offroad Series.

Not to be left out www.fanschoice.tv has AMA Flat Track racing from the Arizona Mile on Saturday with practice at 11:15 a.m. and racing beginning at 2 p.m. The network will also stream three short track races that same day.

They will also stream two races from the European NASCAR on Sunday and Monday but the site didn’t list the times.

That’s it for this week. If you can be sure to get out and see a race live; it beats the heck out of watching it on TV as you see the sound, color and excitement of the racing.
