MOTORSPORTS PREVIEW: JUNE 9 TO 12

The season rolls on with another action packed weekend of racing.

 

Motorsports Preview for this weekend is full of various events to suit almost any race fan, not only in our region but nationally and internationally as well.

The Mammoth Motocross starts next week so if any riders want to get in some last minute practice LivFast Exit 28 is the place to be. Times are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. If you want to help some young area riders heading there Testa Motorsports in Gardnerville will be having a car wash and raffle from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

North of Reno the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California will have another points race with a starting time of 7 p.m. Saturday.

The big news here is Fallon’s annual celebration of horsepower and speed. Octane Fest uses several venues including the parking by the Walmart, Churchill County Fairgrounds, Top Gun Raceway located south of town and Rattlesnake Speedway just east of downtown.

The full schedule is posted at the end of this article as it covers several days. Also the Rattlesnake Outlaw Karts will not be racing on Saturday, only Sunday.

Motocross racers that want action can compete in the first round of the Summer Challenge in Hollister, California. Practice is on Saturday with racing on Sunday.

Over in TV and Internet land there is a full buffet of racing.

Thursday begins on CBS Sports at 4 p.m. with a broadcast of an Australian V-8 Supercars event followed at 5 p.m. by a World Challenge race.

This week the annual Isle of Man TT races are being run and its probably the most insane motorcycle event on the planet. Every night at 8 p.m. Velocity channel is broadcasting a review of the day’s activities.

Fox Sports 1 gets Friday going at 2:30 p.m. with the ARCA race from Michigan followed at 5:30 p.m. when they air the Camping World Truck race from Texas.

Once again the Velocity channel will show a recap of the days racing at the Isle of Man TT event.

Saturday begins at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports 1 as the network shows the Xfinity race from Michigan. At that same time NBC Sports airs Formula 1 qualifying from Montreal, Canada followed at 5 p.m. with the Indy Car race from Texas.

At midnight MAVTV has the World Rally from Italy.

Sunday is another busy night for race fans starting at 8:30 a.m. when Fox Sports One shows the NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Michigan.

Then at 10 a.m. NBC airs the Formula 1 race from Montreal. Fox Sports 1 at 1:30 p.m. will air the NHRA event from Englishtown.

That same day NBC Sports, starting at 10 a.m. has its Motor Sports Hour followed by the Nitro Circus.

Over on CBS Sports the new work has Mobil 1 “The Grid,” show at 10 a.m. followed at 11 by German Touring Cars then at 1 p.m. with another Australian V-8 Supercar event.

The Internet is also a busy place as www.fanschoice.tv has a bunch of programs.

Things begin at 5:25 a.m. when the network airs an NASCAR Whelen Euro Series event from the historic Brands Hatch circuit in Britain.

That afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. several short track races will be streamed and at 9:30 p.m. race two from Brands Hatch will be aired.
