RACING PREVIEW: JULY 14 TO 17

Racing Preview for this week has four events in our area and two of them are very different from the usual fare.

Friday begins at Top Gun Raceway, located south of Fallon, with $5 Friday, from 6 p.m. until midnight, where people can test and tune their cars on the dragstrip. Then on Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. the facility has ET round 11, Junior Dragsters round 9 and Street Legal drags.

Closer to home at the Wild West Motorsports Park here is a new event combining VORRA and NorCal Rock Racing.

Things really get going Saturday morning as racing beings at 10 a.m. when first of two rounds, that proceed the main events get the green flag

Then on Sunday, starting around the same time VORRA stages another of its desert type races on the course. Usually they use a two-moto format where a driver’s combined finishes determines their place in the standings.

Fernley 95A Speedway hosts another of its points races starting at 6 p.m. Saturday. This time there should be some pro stocks using the night to tune up for the next round of their series.

For those that want to race motocross there are two options.

The first is Saurday at the Club Moto track in Dixon, California and part of the 2016 Summer Challenge series.

As usual the TV schedule is a banquet of different races. On Thursday, starting at 7 p.m. CBS Sports has three races from the Real Road Racing Series in Ireland.

NBC Sports follows up with a Motoross Highlight Series show starting at 8 p.m.

Friday begins on NBC Sports with a series of practice sessions from Loudon, New Hampshire for the Sprint Cup and Xfinity series.

Saturday at 11 a.m. the Pro Motocross series returns, this time from the Spring Course. MAVTV has the first motos live then will repeat them at 3 p.m. Then NBC Sports airs the 450 2nd moto at 4 p.m. and the 2nd 250 moto at 7 p.m.

However, if one wants to watch all four, or maybe just one of the motos after the fact, wait until the weekend passes then go to, www.promotocross.com. You can see them there.

The same afternoon, starting at 3 p.m., there are three short track races streamed on www.fanschoice.tv.

The NASCAR Xfinity race starts at 1 p.m. from New Hampshire on NBC Sports.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

On Sunday, starting at 10:30 a.m. NBC Sports will have the NASCAR Sprint Cup race on the Magic Mile at Loudon.

Then at 11:30 a.m. CNBC has the Indy Car race from Toronto, Canada. Now if a person’s service doesn’t have that channel the race can be watched next week on, www.youtube.com.

In fact all the Indy Car races are on a delayed basis through You Tube.

CBS Sports will air a German Touring Car race starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday and follow that up at 4 p.m. with another Lucas Oil Off-Road Series event.

Fanschoice.TV also has another short track event on Sunday, starting at 2 p.m., from Utica-Rome Speedway.

So that’s it for this week. Remember if you can get out to see a race live. There is nothing like it for color and excitement and those events at Wild West Motorsports Park, especially on Saturday should be some wild shows.

Apologize for that, spaced it for this week. Just made the correction and will post a note later on our Face Book Page.
Hope to see you in a couple of weeks as I’ll be there Saturday for Frontier Days, just can’t make both days this year.
