MOTORSPORT PREVIEW: JULY 21 TO 24

Once again another action packed weekend for motorsport fans. Something for about everybody including a driver change at the Brickyard 400.

Motorsport preview for this week is another mixed bag of regional, national and international events. Either live, on TV or streamed on the Internet.

There are a trio of things for the two-wheeled crowd. Once again Livfast Exit 28 MX track will have practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

For those wishing to actually race motocross there are two options.

The first is at River Front MX Park in Marysville, California. The fifth round of their series is Saturday and things usually begin around 5 p.m. however one might check their website, www.riverfrontmxpark.com.

The other option is round four of the 2016 Summer Classic at the Metcalf track. Saturday is for practice while racing is on Sunday. For further information please call, (408) 857-5884.

There will be two Saturday oval track races in our area and the first is at Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon. In addition to the cars, outlaw karts it’s the next round of the Nevada Pro Stock Association’s series.

Racing for the Outlaw Karts starts in the late afternoon while the cars begin their show around 6 p.m.

To the north Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California will host its annual Fair Races held at the Lassen County Fairground. The show should have a 7 p.m. start time.

Hobey's Cruise Nights.

Cruise night at Hobey’s Casino on Wednesday was the last local one until Hot August Nights begins.

For those attending cruise nights the one tonight, Thursday, will be in Carson City, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Concours Auto Parts on Arrowhead Drive.

Next week both curise nights will be in Carson City with Wednesday’s held, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Carson Mall. Thursday’s will be at the Plaza Conference Center, which actually kicks off the annual Silver Dollar Classic.

Over on the Television side things are jumping as well.

If you missed the Camping World Truck race at Eldora it will be repeated today at 12:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. Or you can watch it on www.youtube.com in the NASCAR section.

Then at 4 p.m. CBS Sports begins two shows with the first being Formula Drift followed by a German Touring Car event.

Friday begins on NBC Sports starting at 9 a.m. with a bunch of Xfinity and Sprint Cup Practices from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Big news is that Jeff Gordon has come out of retirement for the next two Cup events to substitute for the ailing Dale Earnhardt Jr.

That same day beginning at 5 p.m. Fox Sports has NHRA Qualifying from Denver followed at 6 p.m. by the ARCA race from Indiana.

Saturday starts at 5 a.m. as CNBC broadcasts Formula 1 qualifying from Hungary.

Then at 10:30 a.m. NBC Sports has Sprint Cup qualifying followed by the Xfinity race at Indianapolis. At noon Fox will have the IMSA Weather Tech Sports car race.

That same afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. MAVTV airs the first motos from this week’s Pro Motocross series. Then at 3:30 p.m. NBC Sports airs the second motos.

If you miss either of these you can watch all four pro motos next week on, www.promotocross.com.

Also on Saturday afternoon, starting at 3 p.m. www.fanschoice.tv will stream three short track races.

Formula 1

Sunday begins early at 4 a.m. as NBC Sports has the Formula 1 race from Hungary. At that same time Fox Sports 1 begins its broadcast of the 6 Hours of Nurburgring, which is part of the FIA World Endurance series.

At 11:30 NBC Sports has the NASCAR Sprint Cup event from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the annual Brickyard 400. Then at noon Fox has the NHRA event from Denver as the series begins its annual western swing
