MOTORSPORTS PREVIEW: JULY 28 TO 31

It’s another full plate for racing fans with action locally as well as nationally and internationally.

Motorsport Preview for this week has a lot to cover on this summer weekend. The action on the track will be as hot as the weather.

Those wishing for some two-wheeled throttle time can take advantage of the practice sessions, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Livfast Exit 28 motocross track.

For oval track fans Lovelock Speedway is celebrating the town’s Frontier Days with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There is a huge festival and BBQ downtown during Saturday before the races.

The races will have IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 360 Sprint Cars and on Saturday the Dwarf Cars will be on the oval as well.

Down in Feather River country the American Valley Speedway has another of its points races with a 7 p.m. start to the action.

Tonight in Carson City from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. the Silver Dollar Car Classic begins with the past cruise at the Plaza Conference Center. Then on Friday, starting at 6 p.m. at the Max Casino there is a street dance and show n’ shine.

On Saturday and Sunday things move to Mills Park starting each day with a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast.

Up on the Comstock the kick off for Hot August Nights runs Friday and Saturday in Virginia City. Festivities run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. when the one-hour cruise up and down C Street happens.

On Sunday things move to the Bonanza Casino on North Virginia Street from noon until 6 p.m. for the pre-kickoff party. Those wishing further information on this week long celebration should check the website at, www.hotaugustnights.net.

Far to the east of us the annual Loretta Lynn Amateur Nationals are starting next week. The action can be viewed live on www.racertv.com and since these are probably east coast times subtract three hours from those on the poster.

We here at NVracingnews.com wish to extend our best wishes to our local riders that are competing out there. We know of three of them and hope there are others.

Over on TV there is also a banquet for race fans to enjoy.

On Thursday at 10 a.m. MAVTV begins its coverage of the World Rally from Finland then at 5 p.m. the network airs racing from Madera Speedway. Over on CBS Sports at 6 p.m. they have a delayed broadcast of an Australian V-8 Supercar event.

Friday starts at 10:30 a.m. as MAVTV continues its coverage of the World Rally. Then at 2:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the ARCA race from Pocono International Raceway.

At 11 a.m. NBC Sports begins a series of shows with NASCAR practice sessions while at 9:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR truck practice.

Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m. as Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck series race from Pocono followed at 4:30 p.m. by the Xfinity race from Iowa.

Over on the Internet side www.fanschoice.tv has two types of events to choose from.

The AMA Flat Track season is underway with practice at noon then the race at 3 p.m. For oval track fans, starting at 3 p.m. there are races from Berlin Raceway the Evergreen Speedway.

Sunday has an early start at 3 a.m. as MAVTV continues its coverage of the World Rally from Finland. Then at 4 a.m. NBC Sports has the Formula 1 race from Hockenheim, Germany.

After this race all the F-1 teams and factories are on a mandated vacation for the next three weeks.

Fox Sports 1 has a Continental Tire Challenge race at 9 a.m. it airs the Red Bull Air Race World Championship event from Budapest, Hungary.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Pocono begins at 10 a.m. and can be seen on NBC Sports. Then at 11 a.m. CNBC and NBC Sports will combine to shoe the Indy Car race from the Mid-Ohio road course.

The beginning at 1 p.m. Fox will carry the NHRA event from Sonoma, California.

Not to be left out CBS Sports has the Blancpain Endurance Series at 1 p.m. then at 3 p.m. the FIM MXGP event from Belgium and finally, at 4 p.m. a Lucas Oil Off-Road Series race.

That it’s for this week, if possible do get out and see a race live as there is nothing like it. You get to experience the action, color and excitement that only live racing offers.

Remember an early edition of next week’s preview can be heard on Teresa’s Garage radio show at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. You can listen to it either at 1180 AM or hear it streamed on amm.streamon.fm.
