The schedule is a bit different from the poster so here is the latest.

Gates open at noon, riders sign in and meet at 2:30 p.m. then practice begins at 3 p.m. The afternoon heats start at 5 with the mains following at 6 p.m.

Then at 6:45 p.m. there is a final pro practice followed at 7 by the opening ceremonies and pro races begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at www.visitcarsoncity.com or at the gate. The adult price is $15 for the early purchase and $20 at the gate.

Late Saturday afternoon, probably around 3 p.m. is when the Northern Nevada Kart Club will stage its annual night race. While the first heat races start before sundown the rest of the heats and mains are under the lights and many drivers decorate their karts with lights.

For those motocross riders wishing some throttle therapy Livfast Exit 28 will have practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Other riders and desert racers will compete in the 20th anniversary Las Vegas to Reno race put on by Best in the Desert. Racing begins Friday with an overnight stop in Tonopah then resumes Saturday with the finishers arriving at the Q&D pit in Dayton sometime after noon.

As this article was being written local motorcycle racer Alan Cunningham should be flying over the Atlantic on his way to Dublin Ireland. From there he will go to the Isle of Man.

His goal is to compete in the Manxgp, where he hopes to qualify for next year’s Isle of Man TT race. We will post a radio link Monday where one can hear the races and practice sessions next week.

On the TV side on Thursday at 10 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m. NBC Sports will have Xfinity practice from Bristol. Then at 4:30 p.m. CBS Sports has the Superkarts Summer Nationals followed at 5 p.m. by the show Real Road Races from the Isle of Man.

On Friday NASCAR Sprint Cup practice from Bristol is at 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on NBC Sports followed at 4:30 p.m. by the Xfinity race.

Be sure and get out to a race if possible. There is nothing like experiencing the action first hand as its way better than just watching it on TV.

We now have three very appreciated sponsors that are helping support this site.

Our newest sponsor is Concours Body Shop owned by Gil Grieve, a veteran racer himself and a long time supporter of motorsports.

His shop does quality work and if you need their services remember they support racing so please support them.

The shop’s website is, www.concoursbodyshop.net.

If you are into karting or want the most cost effective way to start racing then Nevada Kart Sport is where you want to go. It’s the only full service kart shop in our region and even retails karts.

The shop’s website is, www.nevadakartsport.com.

If you are into the riding lifestyle or race a motorcycle then Reno Motorsports is the place to go. They have about everything a person could want including a full service shop in the back.

I raced yesterday and it’s been 12 years since I’ve been on a track. The staff at Fuji Park did an awesome job with the track. Kudos to the CFTA and the promotors for putting on a show that brought National riders out. I most definitely hope they come back, at least once a year.
