RACING PREVIEW:DECEMBER 8 TO 11

Racing preview for this week is again slim pickings when it comes to live racing and many times only reruns are on TV and the Internet. However there are some live events to be seen or to attended.

Locally, and depending on the weather, Livfast Exit 28 will hold practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There is one motorcycle event on tap in Marysville, California this weekend. It’s an AMA District 36 event at the track over there.

Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. has a slate of six races while Sunday, starting at 8 a.m. has only three that will be run.

Need2Speed, Reno’s indoor karting track is hosting the “Friends of Nevada Dirt Tracks Day of Karting,” on Sunday starting at noon. The facility is located at 6895-B Sierra Center Parkway (By the Target Store) and their website is, www.need2speed.com.

In keeping with the holiday season two motorcycle stores are having sales and clearances. Down in Gardnerville, Testa Motorsports has discounts on items while close to home Reno KTM is having a clearance sale as well as discounts.

Over on TV land MAVTV has a slate of shows on Thursday. Some of them are the Dirty 30 show that begins at noon followed at 12:30 by Super Cup Stock Cars and the Lucas Oil Late Models.

On Friday www.fanschoice.tv begins coverage of more NASCAR award ceremonies.

At 6 a.m. the network streams the Whelen All American Grand Champions Breakfast followed at 2 p.m. by the Red Carpet entrance that leads into the 3 p.m. awards show.

Then at 6 p.m. NBC Sports has a NASCAR Scan show. It should highlight the winners in the top three series.

Fans Choice is back Saturday with coverage of the NASCAR Touring Grand Champions functions. Things start at 6 a.m. with the breakfast followed at 2 p.m. by the Red Carpet entrance that leads into the 3 p.m. awards show.

Sunday is actually pretty full with CBS Sports showing many different types of racing.

Things start at 10 a.m. with Australian V-8 Supercar action then at 11:30 a.m. it’s the Formula Drift Insider show. At noon they broadcast a World of Outlaws race followed by the World of Outlaws Late Model series.

NBC Sports, at 11:30 a.m. has its Motorsports Hour show.

That’s it for this weekend. While the offerings are slim right now racing begins anew in just over a month from now.
