RACING PREVIEW: DEC. 29 TO JAN. 1

One more week in the “rerun zone,” but fear not racing begins this weekend.

Racing Preview for this week is again thin but that’s going to change this weekend. With New Year comes racing as the thunder returns.

Locally Livfast Exit 28 Motocross track will probably be having practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. When this was written there was no confirmation so one needs to check first.

For those racing in the Bishop Winter Series there are practice sessions on Saturday. Usually at 8 a.m. is when the gates open followed by track time.

The first racing event of the year happens this weekend over in Marysville, California with the MMX Hangover Classic.

Gates open at 7 a.m. on Friday with practice sessions starting an hour later. Then on Sunday, New Year’s Day, gates open at 6 a.m. followed by sign ups and 8 a.m. is when the first gate is scheduled to drop.

Over in TV land there are several programs to watch. On Thursday Fox 2, at 7 p.m., has a 2017 Supercross preview show.

MAVTV has a host of programs including, at 3 p.m. the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt series, then at 4 p.m. Speed Sport 2016 and at 5 p.m. Madera racing.

Friday is very slim but at 11 a.m. MAVTV has a show from the SEMA convention.

On the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has many videos from different series one can watch. And of course www.youtube.com also has a selection of racing videos one can watch including events from NASCAR and Indy Car.

Saturday begins on MAVTV at 10 a.m. as the network airs rebroadcasts of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl and they’ll cover the 2014, 2015 and 2016 events.

Then at 1 p.m. CBS Sports has the Snocross Nationals followed at 2 p.m. by Australian V-8 Supercar races.

And finally at 6 p.m. MAVTV has Lucas Oil Drag Boat races.

Sunday begins at 9:30 a.m. as Fox Sports 1 has a Monster Jam show.

Then MAVTV picks up starting at noon with the Lucas Oil Drag Boars, then Lucas Oil Pulling League and finally with Lucas Oil Off Road racing.

Monday is kind of a holiday but racing internationally begins on Tuesday with the annual Dakar Rally.
