RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: SEASON OPENER

A little late getting this one out but here it is. Next time should be better.

FALLON (April 1) – Rattlesnake Raceway began it season Saturday. The pits were full of cars, 7 classes, as well as Outlaw Karts so it was going to be a long night.

Headlining the night was the Nevada Pro Stock Association opening their traveling series as well. And a surprise driver won the feature.

“It was good, started dead last, think we had 15 cars wound up taking the lead with probably 10-laps to go. It was pretty exciting actually,” Shawn Natenstedt said after winning the Pro Stock feature. ” Slicing and dicing, you’ve got to get to the front as they is some good competition in this class. Thanks to Chewy and Antonio for getting the car ready, I just happy to be able to drive it for them.”

Shawn Natenstedt on his way to the Pro Stock victory.

Then he thanked Arro Gunn, American Auto Center, Gun Slinger Chassis and the Aragon family.

When the green waved on the Pro Stock feature james Gonzalez jumped into the lead. Only a few laps went by until the first caution happened.

At that time the fastest lap was a 15.477 second rip around the oval.

On the green Fred White spun bringing out another caution. Before that Natenstedt has first moved into third then took second place.

On the restart Natenstedt used an inside move to grab the lead but things slowed again after Gary Nevers wound up on the backstretch inside berm while Al Goss also spun and Mike Learn’s car broke down on the front stretch.

This brought things to a halt but it got a bit more exciting when Learn’s car seemed to have a small fire ahead of the left rear tire. Finally his car was towed back to the pits.

When the green waved again Natenstedt took off like a rocket leaving everyone in his dust. Behind him things got a bit scrambled as one car hit the Turn 3 wall setting off others spinning to avoid him.

As the time limit for the race had been reached the officials told the drivers they would get five more green flag laps until the end. But if there was another caution then it would be a green-white-checkered to end the race.

Once again Natenstedt took off like a rocket and reached the checkered flag first. James Gonzalez was second ahead of Tim Tussell, Robert Miller, Mike McMordie and series boss Gordon Russell.

Since 95A isn’t running them anymore the Street Stock class have moved to Rattlesnake. There were six of them that took the green for their main.

First point was Trevor Quell but soon after the start Rick Miller took the point. The pace slowed for a quick caution due to debris in Turn 2.

After the green waved Dillon Kintz brought out another quick caution when he spun in Turn 4. Once again Miller was on point but only briefly as Bob Vaden soon took the lead.

Bob Vaden won the Street Stock main.

One more caution after Crystal Kotney spun in Turn 3. Then she almost pulled in front of the leaders but fortunately all worked out well.

On the restart Vaden took off with Miller in hot pursuit. They would finish in that order and some distance behind them Kintz and Kotney were third and fourth.

When the Super Stock 4 race began Galen Reese was on point but a spin on the back stretch resulted in a full restart. This time Dennis Crook led the charge followed by his brother Stephen Crook and Dan Pieretti.

Rattlesnake Raceway: Super Stock 4

Stephen Crook was the Super Stock 4 winner.

A few laps later Stephen Crook took the but the pace was once again slowed after Steve Crook’s spin caused a caution. When racing resumed Jesse James moved into third but up front the motor of Dennis Crook seemed to give up and there was another caution so he could be pushed to the pits.

With two to go the green waved one more time and Stephen Crook took off followed by James and Pieretti. They would finish in that order.

Rattlesnake Raceway: Dwarf Cars.

“Rocket” Joe Frock was the Dwarf Car winner.

As expected “Rocket” Joe Frock won the Dwarf Car main after taking his heat race. Roy Peterson had a great run finishing second ahead of Garvin Ryle and Glenn Sciarani.

Rattlesnake Raceway: Gen-X

Unfortunately there was no name for the Gen-X winner in the results.

Unfortunately there were no names posted for the Gen-X results so all this reporter knows at this time was that #63 won that main.

The Hobby Stock field was so large it took a B main to set the final field. Shane Ramthun won that race followed by Bob Shank an Dennis Buehn.

Once again without names I do not know who the top four in the Hobby Stock main were. Apologize for that and hope to have it corrected next time.

Rattlesnake Raceway: Hobby Stock.

Hobby Stock winner but no name was listed.

Cory Sample won the IMCA main event but once again, several cars didn’t have driver’s names in the results. Since this was the first race of the season the problem should be corrected next time.

Rattlesnake Raceway: IMCA

Cory Sample won the IMCA feature.

There was a pretty good field of Outlaw Karts that also welcomed the start of their season.

Jaden Allec was the Beginner winner while Brysyn Simeral topped the Box Stock Class. The 250cc winner was Blake Rausher while Jacob Dias won his first 500cc main event.

The next race scheduled for Rattlesnake Raceway is on Saturday, April 15.

What is the schedule for 2017? Do you race every Saturday, or every other Saturday? I will be out often this year but need to know which weeks you race & what the starting times are.

    Thank you!!

Which schedule are you interested in Robert. Depends on the track or the series.
