 RACING PREVIEW FOR THE WEEKEND

This week has both oval and drag racing for area fans.

 

THE 2nd Annual Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial is this weekend with two days of Dwarf Car racing.

Things begin Friday as Fernley 95A Speedway hosts the 2nd annual Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial race. It’s a Western Dwarf Car regional.

On both Friday and Saturday qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. These little speedsters usually put on quite a show.

Further east on Friday, starting at 7 p.m., Lovelock Speedway starts its 2015 season. Most of their events this season will be on Friday evenings.

Over in Fallon the Top Gun Speedway hosts two days of drag racing starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Just east of downtown, Rattlesnake Raceway, starting at 6 p.m., hosts its car classes and mud drags.

After its season opener was canceled due to rain American Valley Speedway in Quincy, Calif. will host the first race of the season on Saturday beginning around 6 p.m.

Television coverage of racing will also be varied this weekend.

This weekend NASCAR’s two senior series will be at the Talladega track for two days of lightning fast speed.

Fox Sports 1 will broadcast practice sessions Friday and the ARCA race at noon our time.

On Saturday at noon Fox Sports 1 airs the Xfinity race followed at 7 p.m. by the final Supercross race of the season live from Las Vegas.

At noon Saturday MAVTV broadcasts the FIA World Rally Championship round from Sweden.

Sunday begins early on Fox Sports 1 as the network airs the MotoGP at 4:30 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. by the Sprint Cup event and at 1 p.m. the network airs the United Sports Car event from Laguna Seca.

The weekend ends on MAVTV at 5 p.m. with their news show Speed Sport.

So with the wonderful weather do make it a point to get out and support our local racers and tracks.
