Saturday kicks off two racing at Top Gun as the track hosts Rounds 6 and 7 of its ET series and the Junior Dragsters are also part of the show. Action gets going at 9:30 a.m. both days.

Will Jeff Olschowka score another victory when he races at the Fernley 95A Speedway on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, at Desert Park Raceway, the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts the next round of its points season with a 10 a.m. start to the action. There will also be a demonstration of drifting sometime during the day at the track, which is located a quarter mile past the pavement’s end of Lemmon Valley Drive.

For those wishing to get in some motocross practice, Livfast Exit 28 will host sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

And a head’s up as next week on Wednesday, Hobey’s Casino in Sun Valley is hosting a cruise night. These cruise nights will continue at various locations as we head toward Hot August Nights.

This weekend the X-Games are at the Circuit of the Americas outside of Austin, Texas. Three riders from this area are competing; Matt Buyten (Trying for another Gold in the Step Up.), fellow free style rider Mike Mason and Adam Jones.

The TV schedule is a bit incomplete but here is what I’ve found that relates to the two-wheeled crowd.

On Friday at 4 p.m. ESPN and Watch ESPN will broadcast Moto X Endurocross for both men and women. This is followed at 6 p.m. by the Step Up Finals.

Saturday is a full day starting at 10 a.m. on ESPN 3 with Rally Car Racing. Then at 5 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN Watch is the Moto X Speed and Style competition.

Sunday begins at 10 a.m. with the Off Road Trucks, followed by other events and the Best Whip and finally the finals in the Moto X Quarter Pipe and these will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN 3.

Be sure to try to get out and enjoy some of the live racing on our region’s track. Nothing beats the smell of rubber, gas and seeing all the speed and color racing brings to its fans.
