     RACING PREVIEW FOR THE WEEKEND This week has both oval and drag racing for area fans.   Things begin Friday as Fernley 95A Speedway hosts the 2nd annual Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial race. It’s a Western Dwarf Car regional. On both Friday and Saturday qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. These little speedsters usually put on quite a show. Further east on Friday, starting at 7 p.m., Lovelock Speedway starts its 2015 season. Most of their events this season will be on Friday evenings. Over in Fallon the Top Gun Speedway hosts two

  • VCGP 2015 – SUNDAY RACES

      VCGP HISTORY MAKING DAY   VIRGINIA CITY (April 26) – After crazy weather on Saturday Mother Nature blessed Sunday’s race with mild, sunny and dry conditions. And that set the stage for a historical day on the Comstock.   On Saturday the pros, expert and amateurs race but Sunday is reserved for Novice, Women, Bombers and Vintage Bikes. And at least one hill was eliminated shortening the course from a 25-mile loop to 20-miles.   Once again two head start positions were auctioned off to help VC charities.   • VCGP 2015 – SATURDAY,PRO DAY

        VCGP – MUD, SPEED, BROTHER’S DUEL AND TRAGEDY   VIRGINIA CITY (April 24) – This former mining town comes alive ever April as the hills echo with the sound of motorcycle racing. This year the 44th annual Virginia City Grand Prix featured a new location for the pits and vendor area as well as a battle between brothers in the pro ranks.   • 95A SPEEDWAY HOSTS BCRA MIDGETS

    95A SPEEDWAY – COOL NIGHT, HOT RACING FERNLEY (April 24) – The Fernley 95A Speedway dodged a bullet as a passing storm spared the oval. So, despite the cool temperatures, the track was able to welcome back the BCRA (Bay Cities Racing Association) Midgets after an absence of several years. “The car was awesome and it just got better and better.       SCUDDER’S PERFORMANCE CELEBRATES #30 BLACK WIDOW BUG LANDS IN SPARKS SPARKS (April 22) — Today Sparks got a new landmark and it is now sitting on the roof of Scudder’s Performance.       MILLER TOPS IMCA AT 95A FERNLEY (April 11) – The speedway here hosted its second points race of the season.     TIEARNEY SWEEPS PROS AT MOTOCROSS   FERNLEY (April 12) – The spring motocross series ended here Sunday. And it was the first event put on by the newly reformed Old Timers chapter.
