    RENO, NV (June 28) — Summer is here, heat has returned, the racing and car meet season is getting hotter. So this will be a slightly extended version of the normal preview. CAR MEETS: • As usual things begin with the Thursday Cruznite.   • MINI MOTO SERIES VISITS DESERT PARK RACEWAY

    STEAD, NV (June 25) — Rounds 5 of this year’s Mini Moto Series visited the Northern Nevada Kart Club’s home track, Desert Park Raceway. While Saturday’s event was all Asphalt on Sunday there was a short dirt section, with a tabletop, whoops and other things added. First event was the Pee Wee/Junior and when the lights turned green Madix Harkin, who was the only junior, too off and left everyone in his wake. One Pee We fell out even before the race started.   • END OF JUNE RACES AT LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY

    RENO, NV (June 25) — Lovelock Speedway ended June with a double header. There were races both Friday and Saturday evenings and the event was the Coeur Rochester Night at the Races.. After the heat races everyone had a chance to catch their breath and get ready for the feature races. First up were the Bootleggers. On the green Ryan Parkhurst took off and left everyone in his dust. Jerome  Kleve tried to catch him but slowed with mechanical problems. He ended up on the infield Up front Parkhurst took the victory followed by Lovelock resident John Flowers in second.

  • DIAMOND MOUNTAIN RACES & BONANZA FATHER’S DAY CAR SHOW

    RENO, NV (June 19) – Father’s Day had an oval track race Saturday followed the next day by a huge show and shine at the Bonanza Casino. REPORTER’S NOTE: Due to computer problems the scoring crew was unable to post the results when this article was posted. Saturday began up at Susanville, California when Diamond Mountain Speedway hosted the next round of its season.   • NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB – ROUND 3

    STEAD, NV (June 11) — Although Desert Park Raceway was hit by a pretty good storm Saturday afternoon, Sunday was very different. A pretty good attendance as there were 91 racers despite the threat of weather. Due to the weather the usual schedule was altered. After practice there was one longer than usual heat race then the mains were reduced to 14 laps. The Kid Kart Class for the youngest racers gets the mains.   • OCTANE FEST AT RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY

    FALLON, NV (June 10) — Rattlesnake Raceway hosted its annual Octane Fest this weekend. Rain Saturday evening slightly delayed the program but it set up the track so it was fast. First feature were the IMCA Modifieds. After the green waved first on point was Clifton King with Steven Anderson giving chase. A spin by Wade Lumsden brought out a quick caution.     RENO, NV (June 7) — Another full weekend of car meets, shows as well as oval track, go-kart and drag racing. Hopefully the weather won’t be too big of an issue. CAR MEETS: • The Grand Sierra Resort is hosting the American Truck Historical Society National Convention & Truck Show.   • AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY RACES

    EAST QUINCY, CALIF. (June 3) — American Valley held its second race of the season on a mild June night. Very nice as the track’s pits are in the woods and the Dwarf Cars joined the regular classes. Only two cars were in the Mini Stock Class. Unfortunately the one Chase Nieman was driving had problems and had to drop out soon after the green waved. Now on her own and in a car that had been repaired Llily Montgomery proceeded to lay down some laps, which were a good test for the car. She did eight laps and 24.366
