    RENO (March 28) – Racing Preview for this Easter/Passover week has a few local events as well as tracks that are opening up and starting their seasons. Things are slim to none on the National and International scene. Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon gets things rolling starting at 6 p.m. Friday with their annual car show at Stockman’s Casino. There will be racecars as well as streetcars on display. Then Saturday things at the Raceway begin at 3 p.m. when the Outlaw Karts start racing while the cars begin racing at 6 .m. on a day that should have beautiful weather.

  • LOOKING AHEAD TO 2018 RACING:NNKC AND NPSA

    RENO (March 26) – Looking ahead into the new 2018 I’m highlighting two groups highlighted in this article. One is the Northern Nevada Kart Club and the other is the Nevada Pro Stock Association; both have something in common, new presidents and boards. The new president for the Northern Nevada Kart Club or NNKC is Rodney Rivera. “We have a complete new board with fresh new faces,” he said. “Right now we’re getting the club back on track paper work wise and structurally as some things maybe have gone by the wayside in the past 10 or 15 years.” He

    RENO (March 21) – Weather is the big story for this week in the Racing Preview. It is affecting several tracks in California and at least one event in this region. The Racing Preview also has what’s going on nationally as well as internationally. This weekend gets off to a rousing start up in Virginia City at 4 p.m. as the annual Pre-Race Drawing Party gets this year’s Virginia City Grand Prix going.     MILLER’S CHOP SHOP SPARKS, NV (March 19) – Miller’s Chop Shop is another small family owned and run business in our area that works in the automotive field. However there is a difference as it’s not the usual auto repair facility. The inspiration for owner Robert Miller to start the shop came from a local track closing down. “It all began with stock car racing at T-Car Raceway,” he said. “We started racing cars then the track got torn down, then we started working on hot rods after working on regular cars then full time on antiques and hot rods.”

    RENO, NV (March 14) – This week’s Racing Preview highlights events in our area; a second round for an off road series plus a show and meet. Nationally one of the classic sports cars races happens in the east and another major series is in the west. We have a variety of things happening in Northwest Nevada.     FERNLEY (March 11) – Battle Born MX opened its spring series with a huge turn out at the Fernley/Wadsworth Lion’s Club Motocross Track, otherwise known as the Sand Box. On Sunday there were 434 entries. While many will ride in one or more classes this an increase in racers over the past year or so. Things were held up due to something unusual at Fernley, fog. First and foremost for anyone planning on going racing, to practice or watching events remember DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS SATURDAY EVENING.
