    FERNLEY, NV (MARCH 31) — The second round of the 2024 Battle Born MX series was held at the Fernley Sand Box on Easter Day. The started off slick and pits were a bit muddy from Saturday’s rain but the cold north wind helped dry things out. There was a huge turn out despite the weather. In the 50cc Class the Open race has 23 starters while the 6 & Under group had 21 on the gate while 7 & Up had 19 starters. The 65cc and 85cc classes also had large numbers on the starting gates.   • AMA ARENACROSS SERIES ROARS INTO RENO

    RENO, NV (Feb. 11) — The AMA Arenacross series visited the Reno Livestock Events Center this weekend. Pros raced Friday and Saturday then Sunday was a blur of amateur motocross racing. Round 10 of the series was Saturday night and like Friday it was a series of Heat Races, Semi Mains plus two LCQ to make up the final AX Pro field.   • BATTLE BORN MX AWARDS BANQUET

    RENO, NV (Jan.20) — Those that race and support the Battle Born Motocross series assembled at Boomtown this Saturday. Before things began there was a moment of silence honor BBMX member Seth Clark, who passed away in 2023. After that the board members and sponsors were honored. As usual there was a large amount of things sponsors gave that were raffled away during the banquet.   • TOY RUN SUNDAY AND SANDBOX RACES

    RENO, NV (Dec. 3) — This Sunday three groups come together to help youngsters in our community. To the east the newly restored Sandbox MX track held its first motocross Saturday. The biggest event Sunday was the 43rd annual Reno Toy Run was held and bike clubs of all kinds met at Reno Harley Davidson. This annual event is staged by the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs.   • LOVELOCK AWARDS & SANDBOX REOPENS

    RENO, NV (Nov. 12) — Lovelock Speedway held its banquet and awards ceremony this Saturday. Over in Fernley on Saturday and Sunday the motocross track known as the Sandbox held its first official practice sessions. • LOVELOCK AWARDS: There was hardware to handout to the top three in six classes that raced at the track.     STEAD, NV (Oct 8) — A wonderful, warm fall day greeted the racers in the Northern Nevada Kart Club. Round 7 was the season ending event where championships were decided or confirmed was well as some earning their first victories.   • OLD TIMER MX AT FERNLEY 95A

    FERNLEY, NV (Sept. 24) — The Reno chapter of the Old Timers hosted a motocross at Fernley 95A Speedway this weekend. The event was round 8 of the 2023 BBMX season and around 400 riders showed up so there were 23 motos plus one club moto.  When the second 250/450B and Pro gate dropped Casey Carmichael took off and left everyone his dust.   • OTMX RENO AT FERNLEY 95A

    FERNLEY, NV (May 20) — This Sunday the Reno chapter of the Old Timers MX hosted the fourth round of the BBMX series. It was a crazy day but had a “winner take all,” special race for the pros. After the first motos ended there was a “Dash 4 Cash,” where the pros would have a 5-lap winner-take-all race for extra money.     FERNLEY, NV (April16) — The two-day Old Timer Nationals visited the Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex this weekend. Two days of motocross action with the final two motos on Sunday after the three on Saturday. Other than the wind the weather was almost perfect for racing on Sunday. There were six motos for the various classes plus two support races that also combined classes. First gate drop sent two 60 plus classes onto the track.   • BBMX STARTS 2023 SEASON AT WINNEMUCCA

    WINNEMUCCA, NV (March 19) — Cool, cloudy weather greeted motocross racers as they opened the 2023 season for Battle Born MX. In the pits where were license plates from California, Nevada, Idaho and Utah as the turn out was great. For one 17-year-old Salt Lake City racer it was a grand  and fast day.   • AMA ARENACROSS VISITS RENO

    RENO, NV (FEB. 3) — The Kicker AMA Arenacross series visited the Reno Livestock Events Center this weekend. It was a three-day show but the pros only raced on Friday while the weekend was for the amateurs. The night started with a pit party where spectators could come down, walk the track then meet the riders and see their bikes. Many fans got autographs and had their checkered flags autographed.     FERNLEY, NV (Nov. 13) — Although it was a cold morning the day turned out to be mild as the Reno Old Timer chapter hosted the final round of the 2022 BBMX season. The turn out was great and speaks well of the future of motocross in our area. There were a couple of young riders that scored victories in two classes.   • BBMX ROUND 4: FERNLEY 95A MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX

    FERNLEY, NV (May 22) — Round 4 of this year’s BBMX season was staged on the motocross track at Fernley 95A Motor Sports Complex. There was a large turn out of around 515 entries so that usually means from350 to over 400 riders.  There were enough riders to have several motos where the starting gate was almost full.   • WINNEMUCCA MX STARTS BBMX SEASON

    WINNEMUCCA, NV (March 13) — The BBMX season opener was hosted by the Winnemucca MX Club. It was a challenging day to say the least.  The club president told this reporter they had 264 riders that accounted for 468 entries since several rode in more than one class.   • ARENACROSS VISITS RENO

    RENO, NV (Feb. 5) — The Kicker AMA Arenacross series set up camp for a two-day show at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center this weekend. The result was two days that were a blizzard of heats, some LCQ’s and mains.  Before every program began a JROTC group from a local high school presented the colors.
