    FALLON, NV (May 29) — Celebrating Memorial Day weekend Rattlesnake Raceway had a Saturday/Sunday show on the oval. The afternoon show had some drivers coming from Susanville to race.  First up was the Bootlegger class and when their main started Wade Lumsden was on point with Logan Sage chasing him. A quick caution happened but on the restart Lumsden was still leading.  Moving up through the pack was Bob Vanden, who soon took third from Ryan Parkhurst.   • RACING PREVIEW: MAY 26 TO 30

    RENO, NV (May 15) — Memorial Day, probably the biggest racing weekend of the year. There is just about something for and car or race fan.  CAR MEETS:  • Things get rolling Friday, from 4 until 7 p.m., when Summit Racing has its Friday Night Cruise. Location is on East Glendale in Sparks.  • Saturday, from 9 until 3 p.m. is the Summer Salute Car Show at Rancho San Rafael.   • BBMX ROUND 4: FERNLEY 95A MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX

    FERNLEY, NV (May 22) — Round 4 of this year’s BBMX season was staged on the motocross track at Fernley 95A Motor Sports Complex. There was a large turn out of around 515 entries so that usually means from350 to over 400 riders.  There were enough riders to have several motos where the starting gate was almost full. One of them, the second 85cc Open moto, did fill the gate. In fact a couple of divisions had Consi races after the regular field was determined.  The second 125/250 D moto may have had the closest finish of the day.  When the

    RENO, NV (May 18) — Once again the car and race fan’s buffet is over flowing.   • SHOOTOUT AT JESUP: MRANN ROUND 3

    JESUP, NV (May 15) — This weekend the Rimbenders Motorcycle Club hosted The Big Head Yellow Head 100. The event returned to an area that hasn’t been visited for several years  On Sunday all the racers lined up according to the group they belonged in, Experts, Amateurs and Novice. Ahead of them the Banner Crew was ready to start things.  The starts are dead engine and when the banner is raised everyone gets ready.   • AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: DWARF CAR NATIONALS

    QUINCY, CALIF. (May 7) — This weekend American Valley Speedway hosted the Western States Dwarf Car Nationals. It was also the ninth annual Dave Richardson – Leroy Kay Memorial Race.  The two events honor two area drivers that lost their lives racing a decade ago. During Saturday’s playing of the National Anthem the Dwarf Car field did a 4-wide salute to the fans. Then they were joined by Gene Kay, one of Leroy’s relatives, driving his IMCA Modified and carrying the numbers both drivers raced under.   • VIRGINIA GRAND PRIX: 51st EDITION

    VIRGINIA CITY, NEVADA  (May 1) — This year the Virginia City Grand Prix celebrated it’s 51st year. As usually the unique event drew riders from as far away as New York and Boston.  Before everything got going there was a short memorial to Daniel Heller as his number has been retired. Sadly he passed away last year during Sunday’s race and his wife read a memorial to him.  Then there was a toast to the long time announcer Moto Mouth Bob Cavakis, who passed a few years ago.
