    RENO, NV (Oct. 30) – Racing Preview this week highlights the reduced schedule for racing in our region and nationally. The end of the season can be wild as racers try to improve their point’s standings and clinch titles. CAR MEETS: • Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month started with a meet at Kietzke Starbucks. Things get started around 10 a.m. and there is usually a great selection of cars as well as people to see and visit with.   • SEASON IN REVIEW: RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY

    RENO, NV (Oct. 28) — Now that the oval track racing has ended it’s time for the Season In Review. First track will be Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon and the I-80 Challenge. Although, like other tracks, car counts were a problem at times the season rolled on with some good racing. Perseverance was the key in the IMCA Modified Class. At times there would only be three modifieds but through out the season Wad Lumsden was always there.     RENO, NV (OCT. 23) — Racing Preview for this week is really showing how motor sports are winding down as we get closer to the year’s end.   • RACERS ROCK THE “FERN” WITH MOTOCROSS

    FERNLEY, NV (Oct. 20) – Motocross racers returned to the “Fern,” or the Sandbox as Battle Born MX staged the 10th round of its season. Hosting the event was the Old Timers Motorcycle club. It was a varied day as the gates would sometimes be virtually full or have a bunch of empty spaces. No matter the racing was as hard as ever and as usual the second moto was the money round for riders.   • TWO-DAY SHOOTOUT AT 95A SPEEDWAY

    FERNLEY, NV (Oct 12) — The season ending event at 95A Speedway was a two-day shootout. Two complete shows one Saturday evening and the second Sunday afternoon. At Saturday’s driver meeting Gene Kay made an emotional announcement about his father passing the previous week. About two months ago Kay lost his mother so it’s been a sad time for him. He passed around memorial stickers for drivers to put on their cars and said, “mom and dad wanted me to race so here I am.” After the heat races drivers had a meet and greet for the fans. Then they

  • BATTLE BORN MX AT THE SANDBOX

    FERNLEY, NV (Oct 13) – Battle Born MX (BBMX) staged round 9 of its season at the Fernley/Wadsworth Lion’s Motocross Track, also known as the Sand Box, this weekend. There was a good turn out of riders, as some gates were more than 90% full. If this keeps up soon classes will have to be divided.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

    FALLON, NV (Oct 6) – The 33rd annual Dirt Track Championship closes out the season for Rattlesnake Raceway. It’s two shows in two days where a driver’s combined finishes determine their spot in the overall championship. As an added attraction was the final round of this year’s I-80 Challenge series, that goes across Northern Nevada. So for three classes there was an additional championship on the line as well as money. Each day ended with the IMCA Modifieds and both races were barnburners.   • CAMEL TOW 100: FLETCHER CLINCHES CHAMPIONSHIP

    FALLON, NV (Oct. 6) – The Camel Tow 100 was Round 8 of the MRANN series and the Mason Valley Dirt Squirts staged the event. Last time MRANN raced here was in 2006 and the course lies just off a range used by the Fallon Naval Air Station. Earlier this year Larry Wright passed away and the race was also a fundraiser to help his family. There was a boot on the registration table where people could place their donations.
