  • ORMHOF HONORS OFF-ROAD RACERS

    RENO (Dec. 14) – The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame  (ORMHOF) is located on the west side of Harrah’s National Automobile Museum in Reno.   • RPM WORKSHOP VISITS RENO

    RENO (Dec. 4/5) – The annual western meeting of the 42nd annual RPM Workshops visited the Eldorado Hotel and Casino. The Work Shop brings short track promoters from across the country for two days in intensive seminars and meetings.   This year RPM boss Stewart Doty was assisted by Nadine Strauss, who used to promote Lakeport Speedway with her husband and now is involved with the North State Modified Tour. The workshop actually began Wednesday evening with a visit to the Harrah’s National Auto Museum catered by the Eldorado.   • NNKC HONORS CHAMPIONS

    RENO (Dec. 6) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club gathered at the Grand Sierra Resort to pay tribute to its volunteers and honor its champions from the 2014 season.   When the meeting got going outgoing president Brian Rivera asked for several moments of silence in memory of a club member that passed two weeks earlier. Jeff Cloutier was a veteran racer, starting in motocross, moving to stockcars then to karts and he will be missed by those that knew him. Rivera and Ed Diederich handled the MC chores.       Biggest happening in Nevada is down south where NASCAR has invaded Las Vegas for its Sprint Cup Championship week. And on Wednesday it was announced that Fox Sports and NBC Sports are combining forces to televise NASCAR events. The agreement is for 10-years with Fox doing the first half of the season, including the Daytona 500 and NBC Sports taking the second half, which will include the Chase for the Championship.     SPARKS (Nov. 30) – Several classes in the Northern Nevada Kart Club are very competitive. Among them is the TAG Masters class and this year the battle for that championship was between two brothers, defending champion Steve Ryckebosch and his younger brother Mike.   “Steve and I are 55 and 54-years old but we are the same age for about two and a half weeks.
