  • RACING PREVIEW: OCT 27 TO 30

    NHRA: John Force, Funny Car.

Even at this late date there is still racing to see or watch. Racing preview for this weekend reflects the shrinking of events as series are winding up. While the pickings are getting slimmer in the two-wheeled world the racing is still hot and heavy. The big event this weekend will be when MRANN makes its annual visit to Moon Rocks for the Halloween Hare Scrambles presented by the Rimbenders and Cheaters Motorcycle Clubs. It’s called the Moonrocks Revenge 100. The action begins at 9:30 a.m. when the Pee Wees begin their race. This time there are some special sections

While the full name is a mouthful the racing was top rate, wild, fast and intense. It was the third year Wild West Motorsports Park hosted this event. STEAD (OCT. 16) – Desert Park Raceway closed out its racing season as the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the final round of the KPX Karting Championship series. To say it was a bit soggy would be an understatment. After the preliminary heat races the grids were set and Jr. 2 LO206 class was first on the slippery, wet track. By that time the rains that were absent from the qualifying sessions had return and were steady. As a safety measure flagman Dave Brandt moved off the stand he usually is on and stood by the track close to Turn

  • RUMBLE AT RATTLESNAKE

Rattlesnake Raceway: Shane Ramthun, Hobby Stock winner.

FALLON (Oct. 8) – Rumble at Rattlesnake was a two-day affair to make up for the loss of the Two-Day Shootout that 95A Speedway had scheduled. Due to the low car count it was decided to use the format like the Dirt Track Championships use. A driver’s combined finishes both days would determine their final position and what payout they would receive. There was also a twist to the rules so an IMCA or Pro Stock driver could take the roof of their racer off and go “topless.” And a few did that exact thing.   The Hobby Stock main

  • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC CHAMPIONS DAY

The season’s final race is also when titles are clinched for any racing series. STEAD (Oct. 2) – Desert Park Raceway echoed with the sounds of racing as the Northern Nevada Kart Club closed out its 2016 points season. Despite the wind and temperatures the racing was as hot as ever as championships were secured. Usually each driver gets one throw away so if they have a bad race that isn’t counted against them. However this race, which was for double points, can not be dropped so competing was very important. As the wind picked up and temperatures dropped the
