    LOVELOCK, NV (July 28) – This year’s Frontier Day races at the Lovelock Speedway had an extra attraction, the Al Miller Memorial Challenge for Pro Stocks. A couple of months ago Al Miller passed away so his sons Robert and Randy decided to honor their father with a special race for the Nevada Pro Stock Association. It would be a very different race for the Pro Stocks as it would run double the normal distance and have twice the payout for the winner. Including money for the driver up front at the split.   • SILVER STATE SHOWDOWN AT WILD WEST

    MUSTANG, NV (July 21) – This year the Silver State Showdown at the Wild West Motorsports Park was a one night show this year. While things got off to a good start Mother Nature had other plans for the night. Before qualifying was finished there was a report of a lightning strike about a mile from the track. This caused the track and bleachers to be cleared and started a four-hour delay in the program. Soon after that the rains came causing puddles and turning the track into mud.     QUINCY, CALIF. (July 14) – This weekend the Nevada Pro Stock Association visited American Valley Speedway for the second time this season. For the pro stocks it was a time to remember and honor their former photographer with the Richard Wainscott Memorial Race.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: HOT RACING AND BUGS

    STEAD, NV (July 15) – Desert Park Raceway was the site of the fourth round for this year’s Northern Nevada Kart Club’s season. Warm temperatures didn’t slow down the racers but some bugs did, at least for a while. Early in the day bugs, flying ants, plagued the scoring tower as well as the corner stations. Fortunately Ecolab was summed and they made quick work of the pests but the break morphed into the lunch break.
