RACING PREVIEW FOR JULY 19 TO 22

RENO, NV (July 18) – Racing Preview for this week is full of cruises, an announcement for a fund raiser to help a local ride as well as regional, national and international racing.

CRUISE AND SHOW N’ SHINES:

The Thursday Cruise, from 5 until 7:30 p.m. in Carson City starts at the Wing Stop located at 3965 South Carson Street.

As usual, from 6 until 8 p.m. Summit Racing in Sparks will have its Cruise In Show N’ Shine on Friday evening.

Comstock Classics Car Show

On Saturday the Comstock Classics Car Show will be at Miner’s Park I Virginia City. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and it will be a good way to escape some of the heat we’re experiencing.

Sunday starts with the NSRA Classic’s at Arrow Creek Country Club and the show runs from 3 until 7 p.m.

Finally DooWop@DoughBoys is a great way to end the weekend as they Show N’ Shine runs from 5 until 9 p.m. and the donut shop is located in the south Walmart center.

•  REGIONAL RACING:

For you Mountain Bike racers there is another Friday evening event at Sky Tavern on Mt. Rose. Registration begins at 4:30 and after the races are over they show a movie. A great way to escape the heat.

The biggest event in our area happens Saturday at Wild West Motorsports Park as the Lucas Oil Off Road Series returns for one day, actually a one-night show.

Gates open at 1:30 p.m. and the support classes race at 4 p.m. Then after a driver’s autograph session the truck and buggy classes get their turn on this fast, hilly course with a 7 p.m. starting time.

This weekend two oval tracks have a special double-header for those racing Hobby Stocks. Each race has a $800 prize for the winner.

Action begins Friday 7 p.m. at the Winnemucca Regional Speedway where all the car classes will be racing. Then, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday the action switches to the Fernley 95A Speedway and there is a special Dwarf Car race to help the show.

For the two-wheeled set there are practice sessions as well as a race at one of the Northern California Motocross tracks

Riverfront has Thursday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then it’s round 4 of the Saturday Under the Lights series followed by open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Prairie City, from 9 until 2 p.m. has practice sessions Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The new Arenacross track has sessions from 5 until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

•  NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RACING:

This part of the Racing Preview is where we jump over to TV Land and check what’s going to be streamed on the Internet.

Thursday starts at 2 p.m. when NBC Sports has NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.

If you missed Wednesday’s Camping World Truck race at Eldora Fox Sports 2 will repeat it at 4 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by NHRA in 30.

Friday begins early at 1:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 has Formula 1 practice from Germany followed at 5:55 a.m. with the second session shown on ESPN U.

Over at NBC Sports they begin at 9 a.m. with NASCAR Cup then Xfinity practice from Louden, New Hampshire and at 1:30 p.m. show Cup qualifying.

Over on the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv has three things on Saturday. The start at 6:25 a.m. with IMSA WeatherTech qualifying from Lime Rock then at 8 a.m the IMSA Lime Rock 120 is aired.

Later that afternoon at 3:45 p.m. the network airs the High Desert Harley-Davidson Night from Meridian Speedway.

Switching back to TV Land, Saturday begins at 4 a.m. with Formula 1 practice followed by qualifying.

This week’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross race is from Spring Creek and again has split coverage. First motos, starting at 11 a.m. are shown on MAVTV then at 9 p.m. NBC Sports will have the second motos.

In between those times NBC Sports, at 1 p.m. broadcasts the Xfinity race from Louden. At that same time Fox Sports 1 has the IMCA WeatherTech sports car race from Lime Rock.

Formula One

The Grand Prix of German is this weekend. The race is the last before the summer break.

Sunday has another early start, at 6:05 a.m. as ESPN airs the Grand Prix of Germany from Hockenheim. That race will be repeated at 5 p.m. on the same network.

NBC Sports at 11 a.m. airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup event from Louden.

NHRA

Over on Fox at noon there is the NHRA Mile High Nationals from Denver. This begins some of the NHRA events being shown on Fox and the series western swing.

Finally at 7 p.m. CBS Sports has the World Challenge race from Portland, Oregon. Back when the Indy Cars raced there the Turn 1-2 complex was pretty interesting after the start.

Well that does it for this week’s Racing Preview. Once again if possible be sure to get out and attend a race. There is nothing like seeing it live for color, speed and excitement.
