RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 29 TO APRIL 1

RENO (March 28) – Racing Preview for this Easter/Passover week has a few local events as well as tracks that are opening up and starting their seasons. Things are slim to none on the National and International scene.

Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon gets things rolling starting at 6 p.m. Friday with their annual car show at Stockman’s Casino. There will be racecars as well as streetcars on display.

Then Saturday things at the Raceway begin at 3 p.m. when the Outlaw Karts start racing while the cars begin racing at 6 .m. on a day that should have beautiful weather.

On Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. Reno Cars and Coffee will have its first Sunday of the month meet at the Starbucks on Keitzke. There should be many cars on display that run from exotic to the not so exotic.

Over the hill all three motocross tracks will have practice sessions this weekend.

E Street MX Park has practice Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. Riverfront has practice Sunday from 9 until 2 p.m. as does Prairie City.

To check for further information please call the hot line at 775-265 7223 or check www.repracingmx.com.

There is also an event at the Oatfield MX track in Turlock but I don’t have information on that one.

Oval tracks in California get their seasons going with Silver Dollar Speedway starting on Friday with the regular classes as well as 360 Winged Sprint Cars. Saturday has two tracks opening with Marysville featuring its regular classes and sprint cars.

Sprint Car Challenge

But the biggest event Saturday is at Placerville as the Sprint Car Challenge series gets going with a huge field of 360 winged sprint cars that is attracting drivers from as far away as Australia.

Over on TV Land things are pretty slim to say the least. Every one of the major racing series are taking their Easter break and that includes Supercross, NASCAR, Formula 1, NHRA and Indy Cars.

Still there are a few things that can be watched although all are in the Rerun Zone.

On Thursday at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.

Over on the Internet www.mavtv.com has a bunch of programs beginning at noon with the Dirty 30 followed by Super Cup Stock Car Series, Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing and Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League plus more.

As far as watching racing on Friday try www.youtube.com where you can see races that have happened for NASCAR, Formula 1, Indy Car and Supercross. Over at www.fanschoice.tv they had videos of the Daytona 200 Superbike race as well as some of the Daytona TT event.

Saturday its back to Mavtv as things begin at noon with Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday Night Racing 2017 followed by Terracross, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series plus several more racing programs.

Snowcross

Snowcross National races are like motocross on a Snowmobile so they are action packed events.

Sunday begins at 9 a.m. as CBS Sports has National Snocross, which is like motocross on Snowmobiles. Then at 1 p.m. the network has a Pirelli World Challenge race.

Then at noon Mavtv starts with Lucas Oil Drag Boats followed by Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League and other shows.

At that same time NBC Sports broadcasts the Motorsports Hour followed by Superboats and the Racer TV show.

Fox Sports 1, at 2 p.m. has Monster Jam followed at 3 p.m. with Arenacross and Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing.

If you have a chance please make sure to attend a race. While TV is good there is nothing like actually being there where you can see the speed, hear the sounds and feel the excitement.
