RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 15 TO 18

RENO, NV (June 14) — Finally a summer weekend without any rain. There are car meets, oval track and motorcycle racing in our region as well as events on TV.

CAR MEETS:

Great way to get out of town for a nice cruise for ice cream.

• The Thursday Cruznite to the Chilcoot Frosty & Goodwins General Store helps get the weekend rolling. Will be great weather for this cruise.

This is the weekend for the four-day Yerington Main Street Car Showe.
  • This is also the weekend for the annual Yerington’s Main Street Car Show. The event starts Thursday, by Dini’s Lucky Club, and runs through Sunday. It also supports the “Through Child’s Eyes Foundation.”
The Evo Club has a Friday evening meet.

• On Friday, starting at 8 p.m., the EVO Club has an EVO Meet & Dyno Tune Set Up. Location is by the Starbucks located at 4809 Kietzke Lane.

Fallon Cars N’ Coffee has a meet at the Ally Bar this Saturday morning.

• Saturday gets rolling at 8:30 a.m. when Fallon Cars “N” Coffee has its next meet. Location is the Alley Bar located at 1555 South Taylor Street and there will be free Coffee, Lemonade and Donuts.

Koyote Kruizers has a Show N’ Shine car show in Winnemucca this weekend.
  • That same day the Koyote Kruisers stages the 27th annual Show and Shine in Winnemucca, Nevada.

There is a welcoming party and preregistration party Friday starting at 5 p.m. On Saturday breakfast is available starting at 7 p.m. and all makes as well as models are welcome.

Nevada Jeep Club has a party at the Tap Shack in Carson City.
  • That same afternoon the Nevada Jeep Club will be at the Tap Shack for a Jeep Party. Times are 4 until 10 p.m. and location is 112 Rice Street, Carson City.
Bonanza Casino has a Father’s Day Show N’ Shine on Sunday.

• The Bonanza Casino, located at 4720 North Virginia Street celebrates Father’s Day with a Show N’ Shine. Event runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and there will be live entertainment, food trucks, trophies and more.

Reno Cars & Coffee has a meet on Sunday.
  • Reno Cars & Coffee has a meet this Sunday by the Human Bean located by the corner of  Kieetzke and Moana Lanes. Usually a good turn out of many types of cars.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

NNKC is hosting a two-day Vintage Kart event at Desert Park Raceway.

• The Northern Nevada Kart Club is hosting a Vintage Kart Weekend. The action will probably start around 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Desert Park Raceway.

Battle Mountain Raceway has a Friday-Saturday event this weekend.

• Battle Mountain Raceway has two days of racing this weekend. The Friday and Saturday should start around 6 p.m. both days.

There is drag racing this weekend in Winnemucca at the Good Times Drag Strip.

• Over in Winnemucca there is the Jumpin’ June Drags, it’s two days of drag racing. The place is the Good Times Drag Strip.

Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville has races Saturday evening.

• Up at Susanville the Diamond Mountain Speedway, starting at 6 p.m. has a regular show. They will give away a kid’s bike during the evening.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

The motocross track in Fernley has practice Saturday and Sunday.

• Fernley Ninetyfivea Motorsports has practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the motocross track. Should be great weather this weekend.

There is night motorcycle racing at Cold Springs this Friday and Saturday evening.

• Regulus Performance is hosting a Summer Night Race. Races this Friday and Saturday evening. The meeting location is at Cold Springs Crossing, a bar located by Cold Springs Middle School.

• Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday. Saturday is a ride day for the Sierra Old Timers then Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice.

• Prairie City MX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

E Street MX Park has an MX Clinic for those racing in the vet classes.

• E Street MX Park will be a busy place this weekend. On Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. there is a MX Clinic for those that race in the Vet Classes.

The next round of the 2023 SXS Series is this Saturday at E Street MX Park.
  • This is also the week for the next SXS Series race. Friday is for those registering. Then on Saturday there is a 2-lap practice session for the classes then the racing will begin. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice for motocross riders.
This Sunday is the next round of the Pro MX Summer Sundayz series.

• This weekend’s Pro MX Summer Sundayz round will be Sunday at the Club Moto track.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• This weekend all three of NASCAR’s top divisions get a break.

• Thursday starts at 3 p.m. when Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub. Then at 4 p.m. www.mavtv.com broadcasts the Ferrari North America event from the Circuit of the Americas.

• Friday starts on ESPN 2 when the network airs Formula 1 practice #1 from Montreal, Canada. Then at 1 p.m. Peacock has Indy Car practice #1 from Road America.

  • ESPN 2 is back at 1:55 with Formula 1 practice #2 and at 4 p.m. www.espn3.com has the F-1 Show Canada.

• Saturday is a busy day. Starts at 7 a.m. with Race Day on Peacock. Then later, at 1 p.m. the network broadcasts the Pro Motocross event from the Mt. Morris track.

  • Over on ESPN 2 at 9:25 the Formula 1 practice #3 is on then over on Peacock at 10:55 they show Indy Car qualifying from Road America.
  • Back to ESPN 2 where at 1:55 they have Formula 1 qualifying. Then at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has ARCA Racing from Michigan.

• Sunday starts at 9:30 a.m. when ABC and www.espn3.com air the Grand Prix of Canada. This time the Formula 1 series is on the course at Montreal.

The Indy Car series is at Road American this weekend.
  • Over on USA and Peacock at 10:30 a.m. there is the Indy Car race from Road America. Then, on a delayed basis, CNBC has the MotoGP race from Germany.

Registration is open for the next round of the BBMX series.

For those racing in the BBMX series sign ups are now open. Next event is out at Elko next week.

Daveys Amercian Racing is usually on at 6 p.m. Wednesday evenings. One can see the show on Face Book and get into the chat was well.

Usually, unless he’s under the weather, Davey’s American Racing is on Face Book.

Davey covers national series as well as racing in the western United States. His focus is on oval tracks.
