RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: JUNE 20 TO 23

RENO, NV (June 19)— Running a bit behind due an unexpected, short hospital stay. So the preview will be a bit shorter than usual.

CAR MEETS:

This weekend the car fan buffet is overflowing. Not much regional racing but a lot to see as we head for the 4th of July weekend.

The June 21 cruise has been canceled as there will be a car show at the rodeo.

• This weekend there is no Fernley Friday Night Cruise. And the Saturday cruise sponsored by the Rustoration Garage in Fallon has been canceled as they are getting for a car show when the local rodeo starts.

Arbor’s Longest Day Classic Car show is Saturday.

• Saturday gets going at 10 a.m. when the Arbors Longest Day Classic Car Show begins. Location is 2121 E. Prater Way in Sparks.

This huge show happens at Carson’s Mills Park.
  • Down in Carson City at Mills Park there is the 4th annual Shown N Shine. The show is huge and has many things going on during the event.
Pizza Baron Cruise night is Saturday.
  • Saturday evening is the next Pizza Baron Cruise Night. Start at 5 p.m. and the location is 1155 W. 4th Street in Reno.
Great way to end Saturday with a cruise to ice cream.
  • If you like Ice Cream there is the Cars & Cream meet at Handels. Location is 13987 S. Virginia Street in Reno.

• Sunday begins at 10 a.m. when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month. Location is by the Starbucks on Disc Drive at the south end of Spanish Springs.

The National Auto Museum has the next round of the Museum Cup Series this Sunday.
  • That same day, probably starting at the same time, the National Auto Museum is having the next round of it Museum Cup Series.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Northern Nevada Kart Club is having a make up race this Sunday..

• The Northern Nevada Kart is having a make up race Sunday at Desert Park Raceway. They’ll use the short track so the mains should have extra laps. It’s a full day of practice, qualifying, heat races and the mains.

This track is having a Friday/Saturday show..

• Two oval tracks in our region have races this weekend. Winnemucca Regional Raceway has a 7 p.m. start time to its Friday and Saturday shows.

Tonopah Speedway is having a Friday/Saturday show.

Tonopah Speedway also has a Friday-Saturday show.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS)

The motocross track will have practice Saturday.

• Saturday is when the motocross track at the Reno-Fernley should start having practice sessions. Track is located off U.S 95 south of the Fernley airport.

REP Racing MX has a busy schedule this weekend.

• REP Racing will also be busy this weekend. Riverfront MX will have open practice from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, PC MX has open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

  • The Sandbox MX from 8 until 1 p.m. has a Private Vet Day on Saturday. Then from 9 until 2 p.m. there is Open Practice but wondering if it’s actually Sunday. Be sure to check.
E Street MX has practice this weekend.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks are in use.

MMX Racing has its first night race of the summer on Friday.

•  MMX Racing has a busy weekend. Friday has Round 1 of the Friday Night Under the Lights Stadium Cross. 

MMX has a full practice schedule this weekend.
  • Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. there s practice on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Sunday from 9 until 3 there is practice on those tracks with OSMX Ride Day on the Vintage tracks.

• This week the 2025 Pro Motocross series is taking the weekend off.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

Here is NASCAR’s schedule for this weekend.

• Well once again NASCAR has put itself behind a pay wall. So here is the schedule from Pocono Raceway. Hopefully www.youtube.com will have highlights.

• Friday at 12:30 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has Indy NXT practice. Then a 1:30 p.m. the network airs the first Indy Car practice from Road America.

  • At 2 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the Craftsman Truck series race from Pocono.

• At 9:10 p.m. www.mavtv.com broadcast the Supercars from Darwin. This is an Australian series with lots of action.

• Saturday starts when Fox Sports 1, at 5:55 a.m., has the Moto GP Sprint Race from Italy. Then at 7 a.m. the network has the second Indy NXT Practice followed at 8 a.m. with the second Indy Car practice.

  • Fox Sports 1 at 10:30 has Indy NXT Qualifying followed at 11:30 by Indy Car qualifying. Then at 11:15 Peacock and IMSATV has IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Qualifying from Watking Glen. 
  • A little later the CW Network has the Xfinity race, starting a 12:30 from Pocono. Next at 6 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has ARCA Racing from Elko. MAVTV comes back on at 8:40 to air the Supercars race from Darwin.

• Sunday begins at 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has MotoGP from Italy. At 9 a.m. NBC and Peacock air the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar – Six Hours at the Glen from Watkins Glen. Then at 11 a.m. the network has NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Richmond.

  • FOX a 10:30 a.m. airs the Indy Car race from Road America. Over on Prime, starting at 11 a.m. they show the NASCAR Cup event from Pocono. Finally at 1 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the finals from the NHRA Virginia Nationals.
