RENO, NV (June 25) — Well here we are at the tail end of June, only one more week before July 4th. There is racing, a parade plus plenty of car meets to fill the weekend. So here we go.
CAR MEETS:

• As usual the Iron Mafia, starting at 8 a.m. Thursdays gets the weekend rolling. Location is Kim’s Donut & Tea House at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

• Saturday gets off to a rolling start a 11 a.m. when The Cherrybomb Betties present the Pinup Car Wash Show ‘N’ Shine. Location is the Ant Space a 1925 E. Prater in Sparks.

– That same day Wicked Ways Reno is hosting a Day in the Park. It’s a family car show and all types of vehicles are welcome. Location is 2700 Paradise Road in Reno, probably Paradise Park.

• To the south Carson Cars & Coffee is having a meet at Bully’s Sports Bar located at 3530 North Carson.

After that it’s time to head for Mills Park. Starting at 8 a.m. the Karson Kruzers are hosting the 38th annual Run What Cha Brung.

• To the east in Fallon its time for the annual De Golyer Rodeo and this year the Rustoration Garage is hosting the first annual Car & Bike Show. Happens Saturday from 10 until three and the location is the Fallon Fairgrounds at 325 Sheckler Road. After the car show one can enjoy the rodeo.

• Usually the fifth Sunday in a month is quiet as the Cars & Coffee groups don’t meet then. However to the east it’s time for Fernley’s Pre-4th Sunday Cruise In. Goes from noon until 4 p.m. and meeting place is The Meadows at Inglewood located at 1032 Inglewood Drive.

• Closer to Reno there is the 4th Annual Wigs for Kids Show ‘N’ Shine. Goes from 9 until 2 PM and there is a HAN Award. Location is 1555 S. Virginia Street.
RACING (4-WHEEL):

• If attended the races at Lovelock Speedway and was in the pits chances are you met Jack Cooney. He was a fixture of the track, a good guy but sadly a few weeks ago he passed away.
Saturday the track is hosting a night in loving memory of him. I sure hope any racer that is able will be there to honor this man. Racing usually starts around 6 p.m.

• To the east Summit Raceway, located in the Elko area is having two days of racing. Both karts and cars will race with Friday’s start time being 5:30 p.m. while there is a 4:30 p.m. start time for Saturday.

• To the south VORRA and Legacy Racing are combining forces to stage the Baja Nevada, The Long Way off road this weekend.

• NNKC races this Sunday at Desert Park Raceway.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCYCLES):

• Probably the biggest news for Northwest Nevada is this week’s Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross. Classes are scattered across the week with the fastest racing Sunday. It’s something area motocross racers look forward to every year.
• Not sure about all the REP Racing tracks except for the Sandbox in Fernley, that is closed this weekend due to the event at Mammoth Mountain. I’m going to guess the Reno-Fernley Raceway’s motocross track might also be closed.
– I’d suggest checking the Face Book pages for Riverfront MX and Prairie City MX.

• E-Street will have practice sessions this weekend. They will run from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
• MMX had nothing posted so I’m guess it will be their regular practice times, 9 until 2 Saturday and 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday, at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.
• Friday, at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from the Summit Nationals in Ohio.

- Since NASCAR again has put its events behind a pay wall the only even I’m going to refer to is the Saturday night NASCAR Cup one. Hopefully You Tube will once again carry highlights of those events.
• Saturday is a busy day. Things get going at 5:55 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has MotoGP Sprint race from Assen. Then at 6:55 a.m. ESPN 2 has Formula 1 qualifying from Austria.

- Peacock & NBC join forces for this week’s AMA Outdoor Pro Motocross event from Southwick. At 7 a.m. Peacock has Race Day live then the racing begins at 10 a.m.
- Fox Sports1 comes back on at noon for the NHRA All-Star Call Up. At 10 a.m. Fox broadcast the Craftsman Truck Series from Lime Rock. At 1 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has the ARCA Racing event from Lime Rock.
- Finally at 4 p.m. TNT has the NASCAR Cup event.
• Sunday begins at 5:55 a.m. when ESPN airs the Formula 1 race from Austria. Fox Sports 1 at 4:30 a.m. has the MotoGP race from Assen.
- Fox Sports at 7 a.m. has the NHRA Qualifying Show #2 followed on FOX at 11 by the finals from the NHRA Summit Nationals.
That’s it for this week. Want to extend our best wishes to those Nevadans heading south for Mammoth or the VORRA/Legacy Baja Nevada race this weekend.
If possible either go see a race or visit one of the car meets. Be safe and see you next weekend.
OTHER RACING NEWS:

• Did want to give a head’s up for next weekend. Remember Friday is the 4th. As usually Rattlesnake Raceway will have fireworks on Friday and, up north Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville will also have fireworks.
