RENO, NV (July 2) — The 4th of July weekend is almost upon. There will be car meets, cruises and racing in our region not to mention what is on TV. Best part, the weather should be great.
CAR MEETS:

• The Iron Mafia starts the weekend off at 8 a.m. Thursday with their weekly meet. Location is Kim’s Donuts & Tea House at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

- There is also a Carson City Thursday Night Cruise, times are from 5 until 7 p.m. This week’s meeting place is the Wing Stop on South Carson Street.

• Friday is the 4th and the big day. Fernley is having a Show ‘N’ Shine put on by the Feernley Klazzic Kruizers. Meeting place is at the Wigwam where the cruise starts or one can do directly to the Out of Town Park, where the cruise ends and enter there.

- Fallon is also having a 4th of July parade. Many times some of those racing that night at Rattlesnake Raceway will have their cars on trailers as part of the parade.

• On Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m., Gardnerville Cars & Coffee has a meet. Location is the Human Bean at 715 Main Street in Minden.

• There are four events on Sunday. Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets at 10 a.m. by the Human Bean Coffee stand on the corner of Longley Lane and South McCarran.

- At that same time Reno Cars & Coffee meets by the Human Bean Coffee stand close to the corner of Keitzke an Moana Lanes. There is usually a large turn out of various cars and trucks for this meet.

- Up at Lake Tahoe there is the South Shore Showdown car show. Times are noon to 2 p.m. and the location is 1018 Al Tahoe Drive.

- The weekend ends locally when Summit Racing in Sparks has a Sunday Cruise-In. Times are 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the location is 960 E. Glendale in Sparks.
RACING (4-WHEEL):
• There are two tracks in this region that are in action this holiday weekend.

- To the east Rattlesnake Raceway, located east of downtown Fallon, has a two-day show. Racing starts at 6 p.m. both nights. The track hosts the town’s fireworks on the 4th and the show starts as soon as it gets dark.

- To the north Diamond Mountain Speedway, in Susanville, has two days of racing. Racing begins at 6 p.m. each night and on Friday the speedway has the town’s 4th of July fireworks shows. Rounding out the show is the Sierra Nevada Sprint Car Series.

• REP Racing MX released its schedule for this holiday weekend. Riverfront MX has practice Thursday from 5 until 10 p.m. Then on Friday there is a morning ride for DCmxridedays and open practice from 4 until dark. The fireworks show begins at 9:30.
- PCMX has open practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Sandbox MX track in Fernley from 8 until 1 p.m. has open practice on Sunday.

- E Street MX Park has a short schedule this weekend due to the 4th of July holiday. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is the only practice day this weekend.

- MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Practice Sunday is from 9 until 3 p.m. and the Vintage track is added to the mix.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday at 10 a.m. ESPN3.COM has the Formula 1 Show from Britain.
- Then at 10 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.
• Friday starts at 12:50 a.m. when ESPN+ has Formula 3 practice then at 2 a.m. the network airs the Formula 2 practice. This week the series is at the Silverstone circuit.
- ESPNU comes on at 3:25 a.m. with Formula 1 practice then ESPN+ has Formula 3 qualifying at 6 a.m. followed at 7 a.m. with Formula 2 qualifying. ESPNU returns at 7:55 a.m. with the next Formula 1 practice session.
- Fox Sports 2 at noon has the Indy NXT practice then at 1:30 the Indy Car practice. This week the series is at the Mid-Ohio road course.
• Saturday is also busy as ESPN gets things rolling at 6:55 a.m. with Formula 1 qualifying.

- Peacock and NBC combine forces to bring this week’s Pro Motocross round from Buchanan, MI where the Redbud National will be held. Race Day Live starts at 7 a.m. followed at 1 and 3 p.m. when the networks split their coverage.
- Fox Sports 1 at 11:30 has Indy Car qualifying from Mid-Ohio.

- Here is NASCAR’s schedule for this weekend as it’s a street race in Chicago. Xfinity race comes on at 1:30 for us in the west

• Sunday begins at 6:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 has the Formula 1 race from the classic course at Silverstone.
- The NASCAR Cup race from Chicago is at 11 a.m. on the TNT network.

- Finally the weekend ends at 10 a.m. when Fox broadcasts the Indy Car race from the Mid-Ohio road course.

• On the not so good side the Impalas Car club has had to cancel its meet in early August.

• Wednesday evenings, usually starting around 5:30 p.m. is Bike Night at PJ&CO on Wells. In a couple of weeks it will by Moto Mouth Mini Team night. A great chance to meet the younger racers in motocross as well as from the MRANN series. Always a good time.
• Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.

He also posts schedules for various tracks and there related subjects.
