RENO, NV (July 20) — This was a busy weekend for car, cruise and racing fans. There were all kinds of events going on in our area.

• One highlight on Saturday was the Cars & Cream meet at Handels. They make homemade ice cream and this meet may have draw the largest turnout of all.

There were all types of cars including a very small one used by the son of the white car’s owner.

There were so many cars and trucks they filled up at least three rows of the parking lot.

One highlight was two Lamborghini’s parked side by side.

No far away was another Lambo parked next to a Mustang. Really showed the size of each.
There were rows of cars and trucks for people to admire and check out.

One of the more unusual vehicles was a truck with a video camera on a large boom. It’s owned by Ascending Works and this locally owned company travels around doing video work. Although not shown a smaller video truck was also parked near by.

• Sunday morning began with Reno Jeeps & Coffee. This time the turn out was sparse. One of the two Jeeps had Radio Flyer graphics that were made by a shop in Sparks.

• Not far away, close to the corner of Moana and Keitzke Lanes the Reno Cars & Coffee had its second meeting of the month. The turnout was a bit less than normal, probably due to the expected heat.

As expected there were several Corvettes present. In fact some of them kind of formed a Corvette row.

Comparisons are always part of a Cars & Coffee meet including where a T-Bucket was parked next to a Mustang.

Not far away was a pair of Porsches. One was bright yellow while the other sported black paint.
• Sunday was when the National Automobile Museum had the next round of it’s Museum Cup Series. These are Show N’ Shine events and the Fernley Klazzic Kruizers bought a bunch of cars to display.

Once again comparisons were all around. In one spot a 1947 Willys sat next to a modern SUV.

Over on another row there was a blue 2006 Corvette parked next to a Camaro with another American car at the end of that short row.
REPORTER’S NOTE: Was unable to stay long enough to see the winners given their awards. So I’m “borrowing” the winner’s photos from the Fernley Klazzic Kruizers Face Book Page.

- The People’s Choice winner was Dan Pieretti whose car is a 1948 Chevy named the Grey Lady.

- The Museum Choice belongs to Chris & Jessica Decker, own the 1958 Chevy Del Ray named “Betty.”

- The HAN series qualifier is a 1966 Pontiac GTO. Like the rest it was a beautiful restoration of this classic vehicle.

• The week continues as on Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. it’s Pizza and Cars. It’s the next meet for Pizzava Classic Nights and the location is Pizzava Pizza at 670 E. Prater way.

• Tuesday has a double header as Famous Daves, from 5 until 7 p.m. has a Show N’ Shine. Cars in this event need to be registered and the first 100 get dash plaques. Location is 4925 Kietzke Lane in Reno.
