RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: SEPT.11 TO 14

RENO, NV (Sept. 10) — As September rolls on car meets and racing in our region continue. Things will start to diminish over the next months but there are still alot to see or watch on TV and the Internet.

CAR MEETS:

Kim’s Donut & Tea house is the place to be Thursday morning.

• Thursday get rolling at 8 a.m. when Kim’s Kruisers meet at Kim’s Donuts and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

This week is the last Fernley’s Friday Night Cruise for the year.

• This week is the year’s final Fernley’s Friday Night Cruise. Times are 6 to 9 p.m. and the cruise is on Main Street.

Saturday morning begins with the Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee meet at the Summit Mall.

• Saturday gets rolling at 9 a.m. when Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee has a meet at the Summit Mall. Location is near the Starbucks.

The 2nd annual Cars & Collectables is Saturday.
  • At that same time down in Carson City Mucks Collectibles hosts the 2nd annual Cars & Collectibes. Location is the Carson Mall at 1313 South Carson Street.
Susanville Street Rodders has the High Country Cruise on Saturday.
  • Up north the Susanville Street Rodders present the 25th annual High Country Cruise or the Rich Sussen Memorial Car Show. Times are 11 to 3 p.m. and the location is the Memorial Park in Susanville; all years, cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome.
The Summit Church has its 6th Annual Show & Shine on Saturday.
  • Closer to Reno the Summit Church is hosting it’s 6th annual Show & Shine on Saturday. Times are 4 to 7 p.m. and the church is off Pyramid north of the Walmart. There is a signal at the turn off and it’s part of the Hot August Nights Event Series.
Reno Harley-Davidson has a free give away day Saturday.
  • Saturday is free give away day at the Reno Harley-Davidson store. Should be during business hours and its probably for Harley owners.
Reno Sport Bikes has a cruise early Saturday evening.
  • Late Sunday afternoon, starting at 7 p.m. Reno Sport Bikes has a ride along. Starting point is the Maverik Station at the corner of Sutro and North McCarran. The ride ends at the Sprouts Farmer Market in Reno.
Taking it to the Streets Show & Shine starts early Sunday.

• Sunday has an early start when the Taking it to the Streets Show and Shine in Fallon starts. Things get going at 7:30 a.m. Sunday and the location is 2555 Reno Highway, probably by the Les Schwab Tires store.

Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is when Sparks Cars & Coffee meets.
  • Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month starting at 10 a.m. by the Starbucks off Disk Drive. 
The 5th annual Hounds & Hot Rods is on Sunday.
  • Northern Nevada Classics hosts the 5th Annual Hounds & Hot Rods on Sunday. Times are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and it benefits the Show & Shine Charity. Location is the west parking lot of Baldini’s Casino in Sparks.
There is also a pin up contest along with the car show.
  • Part of the Hounds & Hot Rods show is the annual Pinup Contest. There is prizes for all contestants an it helps support the Northern Nevada SPCA.
Sunday afternoon is when the next Summit Racing Equipment Cruise-In happens.
  • Sunday afternoon is when the next Cruise-In at Summit Racing Parts happens. Times are 1:30 to 4 p.m. and the location is on East Glendale in Sparks.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Rattlesnake Raceway has a Friday/Saturday show this weekend.

• Friday and Saturday Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon has a two day show, the ‘Big Al’ Goss and ‘The Jet” Danburg Memorial. Friday’s races begin at 7 p.m. while Saturday’s racing starts at 6 p.m.

  • Saturday is when the Outlaw Karts race as they end their season. Their program starts at 2 p.m. with the driver’s meeting happening at 1 p.m.
Top Gun Dragstrip ends its season with a Friday through Sunday show.

• This weekend Top Gun Dragstrip ends its season with the Fallon 660. Friday is a test and tune session plus the Friday Night Gambler with a cash payout.

  • Saturday and Sunday is when the Summit ET Bracket racing ends. The Jr. Dragsters will be racing as well.
The Northern Nevada Kart Club is in action this Sunday.

• Up at Stead, at Desert Park Raceway, the Northern Nevada Kart Club is hosting Round 6 of its season. Saturday is for practice while Sunday has practice, qualifying, heat race and ends with the mains.

Drifting returns to the Reno-Fernley Raceway this weekend.

• To the east, Club Rowdy is having Risky Business on Saturday and Sunday. Location is at the Reno-Fernley Raceway on the road course where the drifting event will be held.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTORCYCLES & MOTOCROSS):

The weekend schedule for REP Racing MX.

• This week REP Racing MX has a busy schedule. Riverfront MX has open practice from 5 until 10 p.m. on Thursday then Friday through Sunday is a OTHG Race.

  • PC MX has open practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Sandbox MX in Fernley from 8 until 1 p.m. has open practice on Sunday.
Weekend schedule for MMX Racing.

• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Thursday. Saturday practice is from 9 until 2 p.m. while Sunday’s practice is from 9 until 3 and the Main, Sand & Kid’s tracks are used.

Friday night they race under the lights at MMX Racing.
  • Friday night the track host Round 5 of the Under The Lights Stadium Cross series. Registration is open art, www.mmxracing.com.
Weekend schedule for E Street MX Park.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Time to sign up for this weekend’s BBMX race.

• if one is racing this week in the Battle Born MX fall series now is the time to register for Round 2 of the fall series. The event happens in Winnemucca and sign ups are at www.battlebornmx.com.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday at 3 p.m. is when www.mavtv.com has highlights from the DTM Series. Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

• Friday is an open day so to see highlights or previous races check www.youtube.com. Other places to check are www.floracing.com, www.dirtvision.com, and maybe www.motortrendondemand.com.

NASCAR schedule for this weekend.

• Once again all the NASCAR events are behind pay walls and on a few networks. Here is this weekend’s schedule. This week the Playoffs begin.

• Saturday at 5:55 a.m. is when Fox Sports has the MotoGP Sprint race from San Marino.

This week’s SMX event is in a domed stadium.
  • This week is when the SMX Playoffs are in the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis. Peacock is broadcasting the event with Race Da live starting at 10:30 am and the gate drop at 4 p.m.

  • The course map shows the riders will actually briefly go outside the dome before returning back to the inside. This time the weather shouldn’t affect the event.

• Sunday starts at 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the MotoGP race from San Marino.

  • At 9 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 then at 11 a.m. the finals begin from Maple Grove in Reading, Pa. and it’s the first event in the Count Down.
