RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: OCT. 2-5

RENO, NV (Oct. 1) — Here we are in October and fall officially arrives later this month. Still there is a flurry of car meets as well as racing, not to mention what is on TV and the Internet.

CAR MEETS:

Kim’s Donuts & Tea House is where the weekend starts Thursday morning.

• Thursday morning is when Kim’s Kruizers get the weekend rolling. Meet starts at 8 a.m. at Kim’s Donuts & Tea House located at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

•  Friday is an empty day, at least for now. Best to check the Face Book page for Carson Cars & Coffee. Most of their events are pop ups with short notice and there maybe a meet that evening.

Rumble into Fall on Saturday is a nice way to help the patients.

• Saturday, from 11 until 1 p.m. is the Rumble into Fall. Location is the Ormsby Post Acute Rehab facility located at 3050 N. Ormsby Blvd., in Carson City.

Saturday morning is when he Nevada Jeep Club begins it cruise to Mt. Patterson so see the fall colors.

• On Saturday the Nevada Jeep Club is having its 2nd Annual Fall Colors Wheeling to Mt. Patterson. Meet at the Maverick station on 1651 Highway 88 in Minden. Cruise starts at 9 a.m. and should last for 8 hours.

• Sunday is a busy day in the Reno/Sparks area.

Classic Chevys Plus, that includes other classic cars as well, has its annual Swap Meet at Baldini’s.
  • Starting at 6:30 a.m. Classic Chevys is hosting their Fall Swap Meet at Baldini’s Casino located at 895 S. Rock Blvd. in Sparks. The meet is actually open to all classic cars and is in the Casino’s west parking lot. For further information please call Hazel at 775-323-9123 or Chris at 925-285-5927.
Reno Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.
  • Reno Cars & Coffee meet starts at 10 a.m. by the Human Bean Coffee Stand at the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes. 
Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets Sunday morning.
  • Not far away, also starting at 10 a.m., Reno Jeeps and Coffee meets by the Human Bean Coffee stand located at the corner of Longley Lane and South McCarran. 
Those that might want to come early can have breakfast at the Fortis Cafe.
  • Charles Doyle is wondering how many might want to meet at the Fortis Café at 9 a.m. for breakfast. The Café is located close to the Human Bean Coffee stand.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Rattlesnake Raceway ends the oval track season with the annual Dirt Track Championships.

• The oval track season ends this weekend with the 39th Annual Dirt Track Championships at Rattlesnake Raceway. Racing on Friday starts at 7 p.m. and it’s a 6 p.m. start to the action on Saturday with the champions given their trophies after racing has ended.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

Here is the weekend schedule for REP Racing MX.

• REP Racing MX has a busy weekend. Riverfront MX from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday has open practice.

  • Saturday, at Riverfront MX, is Round 4 of the Saturday Night Race series. Not sure what time it starts. Then from 9 until 2 p.m. it’s a DCMX Private Ride day.
  • PCMX from 9 until 2 p.m. has open practice Saturday and Sunday.
  • The Sandbox MX at Fernley from 9 until 2 p.m. has open practice on Sunday.
E Street MX Park has he next round of its SXS series this weekend.

• E Street MX Park has the next round of its SXS Series this weekend. Saturday is practice while Sunday is race day.

MMX Racing has practice this weekend.

• MMX Racing from 9 until 2 p.m. has practice Saturday on the Main, Kid’s and Sand Tracks. Sunday’s practice is from 9 until 3 p.m. on the same tracks.

Oatfield Raceway has open practice on Saturday.

• Oatfield Raceway, from 9 until 3 p.m. Saturday has an Open Practice Day.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Here is NASCAR’s schedule for the weekend.

• Next series of races are at the Charlotte Motor Speedway using the Roval Course. And, as usual all the events are behind Pay Walls. And they’re wondering why the viewing audience is dropping. Of course one can see highlights lagter on www.youtube.com.

• Thursday is an empty day but to see more racing one might want to check www.fanschoice.tv, www.dirtvision.com, www.floracing.com or www.youtube.com.

• Friday at 2:25 a.m. ESPN 2 has Formula 1 practice from Singapore. Then at 4 a.m. ESPN + has Formula 1 practice.

  • Fox Sports 1, starting at 11:55 p.m. has MotoGP Sprint race from Indonesia. 

• On Saturday ESPN 2, starting at 5:55 a.m. has Formula 1 qualifying. Then at 11:55 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the MotoGP race from Indonesia.

• Sunday starts at 4:55 a.m. when ESPN airs the Formula 1 race from Singapore.

Ironman Raceway is the site of the Motocross of the Nations this year.
  • Then CBS Sports Network broadcast the Motocross of Nations held at Ironman Raceway from Crawfordsville, Indiana. Race #1 starts at 10 a.m. while Race #2 goes at 11:30 a.m. while Race #3 sees the green flag at 1 p.m.

That’s it for this first weekend in October. Be safe out there and if possible attend a race or car meet. You’ll meet some great people no matter what you choose.

The next round of the Battle Born MX series will be held at the Stead Motocross track.

• If one races in the Battle Born MX series registration is open for Round 4 of the fall season.

Moto Mouth Mini Team is taking resumes for the 2026 season.

• Youngsters that want to race with the Moto Mouth Mini Team need to turn in their resumes. They have a team with MRANN and with Motocross.

Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.

He also posts schedules for various tracks and there related subjects.
