RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: OCT. 16 TO 19

RENO, NV (Oct. 15) — After a burst of fall like weather things are clearing up and Mother Nature will give us a nice weekend. There are several car meets, a drifting competition, announcements plus what is on TV.

CAR MEETS:

The weekend starts Thursday morning when Kim’s Kruisers meet.

• Thursday morning, starting around 8 a.m. is when Kim’s Kruisers have their weekly meet. Location is Kim’s Donut and Tea House at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnervile.

Friday evening is when Carson Cars & Coffee meets by the Dutch Brothers Coffee Stand.

• Carson Cars & Coffee is having a meet at the Dutch Brothers Coffee Stand by the Carson Mall. It’s on Friday and 6:30 p.m. is when things get going. Nice way to end the work week.

Fallon Cars & Coffee starts Saturday with its final meet of the season.

• Saturday is a busy day that starts at 8:30 a.m. when Fallon Cars & Coffee has its last meet of the season. Location is 2333 Reno Highway in the parking lot by the Walmart.

Saturday is when El Rancho Drive in has a Show ‘N Shine, Trunk or Treat and showing holiday movies.
  • That evening, starting at 5:30 p.m. there is a Trunk or Treat at the El Rancho Drive in then at 7:30 a.m. movies will be show. This is also a Show ‘N Shine with all types of cars, trucks and hot rods.
Saturday evening is when Mucks is hosting a Trunk or Treat in Carson City.
  • Down in Carson City Mucks Collectibles is having a Trunk or Treat. Location is at the Carson Mall and all car clubs are welcome.
Saturday is when Oktoberfest comes to Reno-Harley Davidson.

• While not exactly a car event Reno Harley Davidson is hosting Oktoberfest on Saturday. It starts at noon and should be a fun event for all.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

This weekend Club Rowdy is hosting the season’s final drifting event at the Reno-Fernley Raceway.

• Saturday or Sunday is when Club Rowdy hosts the Overdrive drifting event at the Reno-Fernley Raceway. These usually start around 8 a.m. and one can pay to ride along if they choose. This is their last drifting event this season. Track is on Highway 95A south of the Fernley airport.

• This weekend the Northern Nevada Kart Club is having two different Community Days at Desert Park Raceway. The track is about a quarter mile up the dirt extension to Lemmon Drive.

Saturday is when Northern Nevada Kart Club is hosting the Go Kart Community Day.
  • Saturday is all about Go Karts. One can find out about kart racing and maybe even get a free kart ride. Be sure to check how one must be dressed for that.
Sunday’s Community Day is focused on the Mini Moto series that visits Desert Raceway Park.
  • The Mini Moto series visits the track at least a couple times a year and Sunday is devoted to them. There will be free moto rides and again check the requirement on what to wear.

RACING & PRACTICE (Motocross):

Saturday is the second annual golf tournament to help injured rider Matt Buyten.

• Gardnerville native Matt Buyten, who was a star in the X Games, is recovering from an accident that put him in a wheel chair. On Saturday is the second annual Buy10 Tournament at the Sunridge Golf Course in Carson City. The shotgun start is at 8 a.m. and good luck to those playing.

• REP Racing has a full schedule for this weekend.

REP Racing MX has a full schedule this weekend at all of its three tracks.
  • Riverfront MX hosts the final round of this year’s Saturday Night Series. Gates open at noon, practice starts at 4 p.m. with racing to follow. The awards ceremony and BBQ is on Sunday.
  • Prairie City MX from 9 until 2 p.m. has open practice on Saturday and Sunday.
  • The Sandbox MX in Fernley has open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. One needs to be registered for this and the place to go is www.repracingmx.com.
E-Street MX Park has practice Saturday and Sunday.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

MMX Racing is hosting the two-day Riot in the Riverbed this weekend.

• MMX Racing doesn’t have practice as they are hosting the AMA Riot in the Riverbed. There is racing Saturday and Sunday.

This weekend Hillside Motorsports is hosting another round of the High Desert Fall Series.

• To the east, in the Elko area, High Desert Motorsports is hosting Round 3 of its High Desert Fall Series.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL)

They are still taking resumes for the 2026 Moto Mouth Mini Team.

• Still time to submit resumes for young racers that want to be part of the 2026 Moto Mouth Mini Team. Members race with Battle Born MX as well as with MRANN.

They are looking for an activity director for the Nevada Car Coalition.

• If one would like to be involved with the many car meets we have in our region here is an opportunity. Nevada Car Coalition is looking for an Activity Director. Might be something to check out.

Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
