RENO, NV (Jan. 18) — Reno Cars & Coffee held its second meet of the month the Sunday.

Good weather highlighted a strong turn out of cars and some trucks. Not to mention a lot of people checking out the cars.

There were a pair of exotics that drew their share of attention. One of them was a McLaren Artura.

Not far away was an was a Lamborghini that also drew its share of on lookers.

In the mix were several American cars to admire. One of them was a very polished Camaro.

Not only was the car shined but its motor was chromed and polished was well.

As usual in a line there was some contrast as well. Parked at the end of a Corvette line was a stock Toyota compact owned by Bob Salz.
Asked about his car he said, “We’re looking at a 1966/67 Toyota Corona. It was bought August First 1966 but with depreciation back then they made it a ’67. It’s got a 1900 cc engine with a two-speed Toyoglide Transmission fashioned after the Chevy Powerglide.

“My parents painted it and upholstered as my mother had to slide out since it was parked next to a wall. Other than that, just normal maintainance.
He added the car has 73 thousand miles on it and while the block has never been taken apart there may have been some work done on the transmission. He’s also put some stock suspension parts on the car,
Asked how it drives he said, “Like a 60-year-old piece of junk. It’s terrible. The mirrors aren’t the best, there drum brakes and they don’t work very well so have to allow for that and the steering is kind of funky. It’s a small car inside and it’s not my daily driver.”
Asked about mileage he said, “It uses a tank of gas a year.”

Not far away was another 1960’s era car. This was a white British Austin station wagon

Its engine compartment was very clean and the hood was up so one could see it.

Over on another row there was a 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV. Many people attending these meets have older cars they keep in great shape and this was a good example of this.
The next Reno Cars & Coffee meet will be on February 1st. As usually it starts at 10 a.m. and is by the Human Bean Coffee stand located near the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes.
