RENO, NV (FEB. 13-15) – The AMA Arenacross series visited the Reno Sparks Livestock Center this weekend. The pros raced Friday and Saturday evenings then, after the track was adjusted for safety, amateurs raced Sunday afternoon.
• Friday was the first day of the full program. As usual the supporting classes ran their heat races and their first mains in the afternoon.
After the evening opening ceremonies it was time for the pro divisions to race their heats. Those that did finish in the top went into the LCQ.
After those heats it was time for two supporting classes to race.

When the gate dropped for the 85cc AX main Sparks racer Kalvin Roberts took off. They ran a main earlier and he scored a double win winning this race.

Next up were the AX Lites (A/B) class. Jeremy Fappani also made it a double as he not only won this race but their earlier main,

Next came the Handle Bar race. It’s for young fans as they hold a handle bar and run a loop on a shortened course. Young Ivory Ogeriscoli was the delighted winner as she out ran the boys.
Next came the Pro LCQ, which was won by Michael Hicks.

Next up was the 65cc Open race. After winning their first race Ava Richmond made it a double by winning. Jordan Trevino was in second and Sparks rider Kyren Roberts ended up third.
Finally it was time for the AX Pro Main 1; all the pro main events were 14-laps. Reno has the second largest track and it took about 30 seconds to do a lap while, at the previous stop, it was only 19 seconds.
When the gate dropped Austin Politelli was on point but Joshua Hill was giving chase. Back in the pack Ryan Breece, who was second in points, was working his way through traffic.
Soon Hill took the point and Robbie Wageman claimed second with Breece reeling him in.

At the checkered Hill won followed by Wageman and Breece, who ended up third

While everyone got ready it was time foe the Micro Limited riders to have their main. Local racer Jude Fye, from Sparks scored the double when he won this race.
Finally it was time for the AX Pro Main 2. When the gate dropped Ryan Breece was on point with Wageman and hill giving chase.

This time Breece was not to be denied as he stormed to the victory. Behind him would take over and finish second while Wageman ended up third
When the night’s points were totaled Hill was first followed by Breece and Wageman.
• Saturday evening started just like Friday’s with the Pro riders doing their first heats to set the LCQ and final staring line up.
In the second heat Breece was leading but crashed hard enough to bring out a red flag and have the medics rush to check him out. Thankfully he was able to walk back to the pits.

Next up were the 85cc AX racers. Kalvin Roberts from Sparks scored a double as he won both mains. Lynx Lacey was the runner up while Logan Rethford was third.

Then it was time for the AX Lites (A/B). Jeremy Fappani also scored a double by winning both of his mains. Dane Morales was second while Evan Stice ended up third.
There was another Handle Bar Race. Two boys raced the final yards and one of them scored a narrow victory,

Beeece was able to race in the LCQ where he ended up third. Dane Morales won that race.

When the 65cc Open was run Ava Richmond made it four in row by winning her mains on both days. On Saturday Jordan Trevino was second and Joseph Murillo third.

Next came the first Pro Main. Hill showed he meant business by taking the lead and leaving very on in his dust. He was chased by Robbie Wageman, who ended up second ahead of Cole Thompson.

Next was the Micro Unlimited (4-8) was up. Once again Jude Fye scored a double and had a perfect two nights of racing.
Next came the AX Pro Main #2. After being in the LCQ Breece was able to race but he started in the second row.
When the gate dropped Robbie Wageman led Jeremy Fappani and Joshua Hill. Eventually Hill took over second and set his sights on now leader Politelli.

After a several lap duel Hill took over the lead and stormed to victory. Politelli was the runner up while Cole Thompson ended up third in both mains while Breece finished seventh in both main events.
After sweeping the night Hill said, “Good start tonight, my conditioning felt a little better and I was more relaxed. The track was challenging but really good.”

Asked about the points he laughed and said, “This is the only race I’ve done and I’m undefeated so far.”
Now the series heads for Oklahoma.
