RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: FEB 19 TO 22

RENO, NV (Feb. 18) — Here we are at the third weekend in February. It’s been a stormy week so some of the events listed might depend on the weather; be sure to check first.

CAR MEETS:

The Thursday morning meet will probably depend on the weather.

• If the weather holds Kim’s Kruisers should meet around 8 a.m. Thursday morning. Location is Kim’s Donut and Tea House art 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

• There will not be a Carson Cars & Coffee meet this weekend.

Winter Apex is a new meet and both cars and motorcycles should be welcome.

• On Saturday there is a meet called the Winter Apex that happens at Battle Born Harley Davidson. I believe it is for both cars and motorcycles. Hours are 8 until noon and the location is 2900 Research Way in Carson City.

Sparks Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.

• On Sunday, starting at 10 a.m., Sparks Cars & Coffee meets. Location is by the Starbucks on Disc Drive in Sparks. That’s at the south end of Spanish Springs Valley.

This Calendar Planning event will help clubs not having conflicting events.

• Sunday afternoon has a big meeting for area car clubs. Nevada Car Coalition is hosting a 2026 Calendar Planning Meeting.

The goal is so clubs won’t have conflicting events. The location is at the National Auto Museum in Reno.

RACING (4-Wheel):

• Area oval tracks and drag strips are still on their winter break. Things will get going a little over a month from now.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

Whatever MC is hosting this weekend’s Prospector150, which is part of the AMA National Hare& Hound series.

• Biggest event in our region is the Prospector 150, which is part of the AMA National Hare & Hound series. The Whatever MC is hosting the two-day event.

  • Saturday is when the Pee Wee, Micro Minis an Big Wheel Classes race on a short course. On Sunday the big bikes race starting at 9 a.m. The race begin just west of Lovelock and ends on a section of old US 40 off the Nightingale exit on I-80.
Due to the weather this weekends qualifying races have been moved.

• Due to the weather the current round of the Loretta Lynn qualifier has been moved to the Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft, California. Saturday is for the Midwest Area Qualifier and Sunday is the Northwest Area Qualifier.

• When this article was posted, due to the incoming weather, REP Racing MX had not posted a schedule for this weekend, which includes the Sandbox in Fernley. Best bet is to check their Face Book page or on Instagram.

• Another track watching the weather before posting their weekend schedule is E Street MX Park in Marysville.

MMX Racing does have practice but Sunday depends on the weather.

• MMX Racing did post a schedule and on Friday from 10 to 3 p.m. they have practice on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Saturday is from 9 until 2 p.m. on the same tracks. Sunday is weather permitting.

This OTHG event, scheduled for MMX Racing is probably going to depend on the weather.
  • There is also supposed to be an OTHG race Sunday on the main track. Practice is Saturday but Sunday again depends on the weather.
REP Racing MX is looking for flaggers. They help keep a motocross event safe.

• If one would like to be close to the action and help with safety at a motocross event there is an opportunity for you. REP racing is looking for flaggers; you get paid plus food and drinks. The sign up information is on the poster graphic.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

Here is NASCAR’s schedule for this weekend.

• Once again most of NASCAR’s races this weekend are behind pay walls. The events are at the Atlanta track

• Thursday at 6 p.m. Racer will air 2026 Asian Le Mans Highlights. Then at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

• Friday is an open day so best bet is to try other sources like www.floracing.com, www.mavtv.com, www.racexr.com, and of course www.youtube.com.

Here is the track map for this weekend’s Supercross event. Map courtesy – supercross liive.

• On Saturday Roun 7 of the AMA Supercross series moves to Arlington and Peacock will broadcast the event. They start at 11 a.m. with Race Day Live then at 3:30 p.m. start the racing part.

• Sunday the NASCAR Cup race from Atlanta is on regular TV. Prerace starts at 11 a.m. and the race begins at noon.

That’s it for this week. Be safe out there and see you next week.
