RENO, NV (Aug. 8) — The 10-day long festival known as Hot August Nights is rolling along. After starting in Virginia City it’s going full bore this week in Reno and Sparks.
It’s a celebration highlighting cars from a different era as well as entertainment, cruises, drag racing as well as displays of cars and more cars.

Each morning gets rolling in downtown Reno as cars are lined up along Virginia Street. Many of them are restored.

Later some will start traveling won Virginia Street, maybe even going under the Reno Arch as their owner’s head for other venues.

The Grand Sierra Resort probably has the largest parking area. Once again there are a variety of cars and other vehicles on display.

In addition to the cars various vendors, some food and others automotive are there as well. Like the other venues there is a stage featuring live entertainment.

Not far away the Atlantis Casino also has a large area that is also set up so cars can either be displayed or cruise through the area. And like the other venues there is a stage for live entertainment.

Across the street is the Convention Center, which is a very busy place. MAG Auctions is in town and offering many types of vehicles, as well as a few boats, to prospective buyers.

The next room is a huge area filled with cars that are for sale. They range from the ordinary to exotic.
The Peppermill also has a large display area as well as lanes where cars can cruise through it. There is a stage for entertainment.
Over on the west side of downtown the new J resort also has events going on during this week.

Over in Sparks Victorian Avenue is where many cars are parked on display. Again there is a large stage for entertainment.

On the west side of the Nugget is a small drag strip where drivers can either race each other or do burn outs.

Each evening there are controlled cruises and the Reno one is along Virginia Street and uses both lanes. Over in Sparks it’s along Victorian that also has two lanes for the cars.

There are many types of cars, buses and trucks that cruise by the spectators that line both sides of the street. Some of the owners will make a pass through downtown Reno then head over to Sparks. After that they may repeat the process.
The events run through Saturday night. Then, starting at 9 a.m. Sunday it’s time for the Grand Finale Parade through downtown Reno to the Convention Center, where the awards are handed out.
