RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: JULY 10 TO 13

RENO, NV (July 9) — Well summer is really here and there are races plus all kinds of car meets and cruises. Going to be a busy time this weekend.

CAR MEETS:

As usual the Iron Mafia gets the weekend rolling Thursday morning.

• As usual the Iron Mafia gets things rolling at 8 a.m. Thursday morning. Meet is at Kim’s Donuts and Tea house located at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

Here is the schedule for the Thursday Night cruises.
  • That evening, starting at 5 a.m. the Carson City Thursday Night Cruise happens. This week the meeting place is Moundhouse Mopars located at #5 Brown Drive.

• Friday is an empty day so a great time to relax or maybe cruise around. Remember it’s cooler up at Virginia City or Lake Tahoe.

• Saturday is a busy day and some will have to choose or be driving around a lot.

Fallon Cas & Coffee has a meet this Saturday.

– To the east Fallon Cars “N” Coffee, starting at 8:30 a.m. has their next meet. It’s also a time to register for the Cowboy Fast Draw Car & Bike Show.

This car show will line main street with cars.
  • Starting at 9 a.m. the Order of the Eastern Stars  hosts the Carson City Downtown Revival. All makes are welcome and the main street will be full of cars.
Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee meets this Saturday.
  • Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee has its second Saturday of the month meet. Times are 9 to 11 a.m. and the location is by the Starbucks at the Summit Mall.

  • That evening, starting at 6 p.m. the Reno EVO Club meets next to Asian Noodles in the Costco Shopping Center. They’ll for a while then the group cruises down to Dutch Brothers coffee stand located in the Carson Mall.

• Sunday begins at 10 a.m. when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its next meet. Location is off Disc Drive by the Starbucks. 

Northern Nevada Classics has a brunch & show at Baldini’s on Sunday.
  • Northern Nevada Classics hosts Brunch ‘N’ Classics at Baldini’s Casino on Sunday. Even runs from 11 until 2 p.m. and there are trophies, 50/50 raffles, gift card drawings as well as music.

Northern Nevada Muscle has a meet on Sunday.
  • Northern Nevada Muscle, starting at noon, also has a meet at Longboards/Yogurt Beach. Location is 440 E. Golden Valley Road.
Reno Harley Davisson is the location for the Bikes with Back Packs to help kids that need school supplies.
  • The Northern Nevada Confederation of clubs is a biker group that has many events to help others. This Sunday, from 2 until 6 p.m. they are having Bikers with Backpacks at Reno Harley Davidson The event helps with school supplies for students from 10 to 18 years old.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Battle Mountain Raceway has a Friday/Saturday show this week.

• This weekend Battle Mountain Raceway has a Friday/Saturday show. Races start at 7 p.m. each night.

PRACTICE  & RACING (MOTOCROSS):

Due to the heat REP Racing has altered their schedule for this weekend.

• With summer time heat expected some tracks have altered their schedules. REP Racing MX has closed both Riverfront MX and the Sandbox in Fernley. Prairie City MX has open practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

E Street’s practice schedule.
  • E Street MX Park on Saturday, from 8 until 1 p.m. has a ride day for Sierra Old Timers. Sunday, from 8 until 1 p.m. its open practice.
E Street is also scheduled to run the next round of their SXS series on Saturday.

– Unless something changes Round 4 of the SXS series will be run Saturday.

Due to the expected heat MMX Racing has altered its practice schedule.
  • MMX Racing has switched to summer hours. On Thursday, from 9 until 2 p.m. they’ll use the Sand and Kid’s tracks. Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. the Main is in the mix, same on Sunday when the time is 9 until 3 p.m. 
  • Note the time change when the temperature goes over 100 degrees. Also the Vintage track is used the first and third Sundays but closed if things go over 100 degrees.
Next round for the Summer Sundayz series is set for Club Moto.
  • Sunday is when the next round of this year’s P.R.O. Motocross Summer Sundayz series will be run. This time its at the Club Moto track.
  • RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
IHRA is racing this weekend in Ohio.

• While everyone knows the NHRA, there is another professional drag racing series. The IHRA, Outlaw Nitro Series, is having a four-day event this weekend. Location is National Trailways Raceway in Ohio and the live stream is on Speed Sport 2.

• Thursday, at 8 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

Here is NASCAR’s schedule for this weekend.

• Once again NASCAR has put its events behind pay walls. CW, starting at 1 p.m. has Friday’s Xfinity practice and qualifying from Sonoma Raceway. 

– Then at 3:30 p.m. ARCA Racing takes to the track and FloRacing carries the event. Fox Sports 2 starting at 1:30 has Indy Car and Indy NXT practice from Iowa. Over on the RACER Network they’ll have the second Supercars Championship race from Townsville.

The AMA Pro Motocross is at Sprint Creek this Saturday.

• Saturday begins at 5:55 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the MotoGP Spring race from Germany. Peacock at 8 a.m. has Raceday Live then at 11 a.m. airs this week’s round of the Pro Motocross Series from Spring Creek.

  • Over on www.imsa.tv, at 12:55 p.m. they air the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Qualifying from Canada. Then at 1:30 CW carries while at 2 p.m. FOX broadcasts race #1 of the Indy Car series from Iowa.

• Sunday begins at 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 2 has the MotoGP race from Germany.  Then at 10 a.m. FOX has the second Indy Car race from Iowa.

  • Peacock comes on at 11 a.m. to broadcast the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car race from Canada. The weekend ends at 12:30 when TNT airs the NASCAR Cup race from Sonoma Raceway.

That’s it for this weekend folks. If possible to attend a race, which can be very exciting, or a car meet. You’ll meet some great people at either event.
