CAR MEET SUNDAY TRIPLE HEADER

RENO, NV (Sept. 7) — Once again the weekend was a flurry of car meets plus some racing in our region. And Sunday was a triple header for car meets here in Reno.

One of the Jeeps was a restored WW II version.

• Reno Jeeps & Coffee started the day off. Not a bad turn out although it’s never huge. This time someone drove their WW II Jeep to the meet that happens close to the Human Bean Coffee Stand at the corner of Longley Lane and South McCarran.

While there Charles Doyle, who heads the group, announced a change in the schedule.

Charles Doyle, who heads Reno Jeeps & Coffee, announced a change in their schedule.

“I started out at once a month, then we were doing the shows, Reno Jeep Festivals, so I switched it to twice a month so we’d have more activity. We’re not doing any runs and we’re not doing Reno Jeep Festival right now.

“I think once a month is better as we can have breakfast in the morning, have more time and maybe plan a run once a month. It just works better so we’ll meet the first Sunday of the month.”

• Not far away Reno Cars & Coffee held its first meeting of the month as well. They meet by the Human Bean near the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes.

This blue Lamborghini received a lot of attention.

One exotic present was a blue Lamborghini. The car certainly attracted a lot of admires.

The motor in the Lamborghini doesn’t have a cover over it.

A person looking at the car pointed out the engine is uncovered as the rear body has an opening in it.

There was a trio from the Envision Car Club.

A couple of car clubs were represented including a trio from Envision.

These two Camaros had their hoods up so people coule see the motors.

Over in one row there were two Camaros, one black and one blue. Both had their hoods up so people could see the motors in there cars.

The black’s Camaro’s motor.

The black one had a beautiful, polished and chromed V-8 in the engine compartment. Many times owners will raise a car’s hood to show what they’ve done to the motor.

• Over in Sparks the Northern Nevada Classics group was hosting the year’s final Brunch N’ Classic Cruise-In. Location was the west parking lot at Baldini’s Casino and clubs as well as independents were welcome. There were also contests for prizes.

There were several pickups including this white 1956 International Harvester.

Both cars and trucks were on display. One was a very clean white 1956 International Harvester pickup.

Classics with their hoods up except the one that doesn’t have a hood.

It was at one end of a row of classics that included a hot rod. All had their hoods up except the last because it didn’t have a hood.

One car that was very different is this Plymouth Roadster.

Not far away there was a Plymouth Roadster, a very different appearing car. It was immaculate and all shiny.

This 1934 Ford Pick up has been named “Duke.”

There were various pickups on display. One of them was a 1934 Ford pickup named the “Duke,” and its quite a restoration.

This 1941 Ford PIckup was also on display. It sported a Flathead V-8.

Not far away was a 1942 Ford with a flathead V8 motor. Shows how the body styles had changed in just a few years.

This 1947 Dodge Pickup sat a the end of a hoods up row.

There was another “hoods up,” row and at the end sat a 1947 Dodge pickup. Another great example of how many older vehicles have been restored and given new lives.

Looking ahead there will be more car shows next week. Just hope the weather doesn’t cancel any of them.
