RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: OCT. 30 TO NOV. 2

RENO, NV (Oct. 29) — Well October is going away on Halloween. There are car meets, Trunk or Treats plus racing in our region.

October goes out with great weather and another full buffet of Trunk or Treat events.

There is also something every important to remember. Be sure on Saturday night to set your clocks back one hour as we’re heading into the dark time of the year.

CAR MEETS:

Should still be good weather when Kim’s Kruisers meet Thursday morning.

• Thursday gets rolling at 8 a.m. when Kim’s Kruisers meet at Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

Magic Moments is having a Drive & Shine function on Saturday.

• Saturday is the Nevada Day Parade and Magical Moments is having a function at the Carson Mall. Need to get there early and you’ll have a great seat to see the parade.

• There will probably be groups from various car clubs in the parade. Just remember to get there early.

Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets Sunday morning. This would make a great commuting vehicle.

• Sunday has two car meets. One is Reno Jeeps & Coffee by the Human Bean Coffee Stand on the corner of Longley Land and South McCarran. Meet starts at 10 a.m. and ends at noon.

Reno Cars & Coffee also meets Sunday morning.

• Not far away ,Reno Cars & Coffee meets by the Human Bean Coffee Stand located by the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes. This also starts at 10 and ends at noon.

TRUNK OR TREAT + TRICK AND TREAT:

Tried to get as many of these as I could. Sorry if I missed any.

This is Trick or Treating on Thursday.

• There is a Trick or Treat from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Reno Public Market. 

Reno Boy’s and Girls Club has a Trunk or Treat meet on Thursday.
  • The Boys & Girls Club of Reno is hosting at Trunk or Treat. Times at 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the location is 2680 East 9th Street.
Youth Outreach is having a Trunk or Treat event on Thursday.
  • Youth Outreach is hosting Redirect’s 4th Annual Halloween Party and Trunk or Treat. Times are 4 to 8 p.m. and location is 250 Bell Street in Reno.
Another group having a Trunk or Treat function is the Wicked Wayz Club.
  • Wicked Wayz Car Club is hosting, from 4 until 6 p.m. a Trunk or Treat at Teglia’s Paradise Park. Location is 2745 Elementary Drive in Reno.
The church is having a Trunk or Treat as well as donation event.
  • Up at the North Valley Regional Park, at 8085 Silver Lake Road, there is a Trunk or Treat event. Times are 5:30 to 8:30 and they are also asking for donations of clothing and food that will be donated to St. Vincent Church.
Biggest Little Radio station in Fernley is having a Trunk or Treat.
  • To the east radio station KRNG, Biggest Little Radio, is hosting a Trunk or Treat. Times are 3 to 5 p.m. at parking lot 15 on East Main Street in Fernley.
On Friday Reno Public Market has Trick or Treat and afterwards will show a Disney movie.

• Friday is loaded with events since its Halloween. Once again Reno Public Market has a Trick or Treat event from 4 until 7 when they will show a Disney movie.

Out in Fallon there is the Halloween Extravaganze out at the theatre east of downtown.
  • Moving east to Fallon there is a Halloween Extravagaza at the Fox Peak Cinema. Times are 6 to 8 p.m. and the location is east of downtown.
  • From 4 until 6 p.m. there is the Main Street Spooktacular in downtown Fallon. While not a Trunk or Treat as such there should be some.
On Saturday at the Fernley City hall there is a Trunk or Treat function.
  • Moving west there is the Spooktacular 2025 at the Fernley City Hall. Times are from 4 until 7 p.m. and there should be plenty for the kids to choose from.
Yerington is having a Trunk or Treat at the court house.
  • Heading south the City of Yerington presents the Trunk or Treat 2025. Times are 3 until 5 p.m. and they’ll have vendor spots inside City Hall.
On Friday evening the Washoe Tavern is hosting a Trunk or Treat event.
  • The Washoe Tavern, from 6 until 9 p.m., is hosting the Washoe Valley Trunk or Treat. Location is 3155 Eastlake Blvd.
  • Not far away, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. there is the Galena Creek’s 4th annual Fall Festival. Location is the Galena Creek Visitor Center at 18250 Mr. Rose Highway.
The Salvation Army is hosting Neewollah Trunk or Treat event.
  • The Salvation Army, on 1931 Sutro Street, is hosting at Neewollah Safe Trunk or Treat. Times are 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday.
The church is hosting a Trunk or Treat event.
  • The Fellow Community Church, from 4:30 to 8 p.m., is hosting at Trunk or Treat. Location is 130 Hydraulic Street in Reno.
This church is also having a Trunk or Treat event.
  • The Mountainside Community Church, from 3 until 5 p.m. is hosting a Trunk or Treat. Location is 8755 Technology Way.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

• Nothing this week as all the oval tracks and Top Gun 

Drag Strip are shut down for the winter. However the annual Baja 1000 is only a few weeks away.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTORCYCLES):

This weekend is the Sandbox Mayhem that also has a BBQ as well as Trick or Treating on Saturday night.

• Biggest event in our area is the Sandbox Mayhem this weekend. Saturday is for the youngster and women. That evening there is a BBQ as well as Trick or Treat on a Canopy Row sponsored by Big Valley Honda.

Sunday is race day where teams will compete with each rider doing a lap then coming in and handing it off to a teammate that will do a lap. It’s usually a wild and fun event for everyone.

Here is the event information on the Sandbox Mayhem.

I am attaching the Event information for those participating in the weekend.

The motocross track at Reno-Fernley Raceway has open practice on Saturday.

• On Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. the motocross track at the Reno-Fernley Raceway will have open practice. A good way to practice if one isn’t racing or way to warm up for Sunday’s team races at the Sandbox.

REP Racing MX has a busy weekend.

• REP Racing will also be busy. Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday. Then from 9 until 2 the track has DCMX Ride Day but Sunday from 9 until 2 is open practice.

  • The Sandbox MX has the Stadium GP Mayhem Event. And PCMX is closed.
MMX Racing has practice this weekend.MMX Racing.

• MMX Racing on Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. has practice on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Then on Sunday, from 9 until 3 p.m. the Vintage track is also used.

E Street MX Park has changed its tracks but will have practice this weekend.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks will be used but have been changed so a site lap is recommended.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Here is the TV schedule for NASCAR this week.

• This is championship week for NASCAR. Sunday’s Cup race will be on NBC. This is also the final race where Xfinity is a title sponsor of one series. With this in mind the CW network will broadcast the final Xfinity race commercial free.

• Thursday at 4 p.m. is when Fox Sports 2 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. Then starting at 4:30 the network broads the Lucas Oil NHRA Sportsman series.

  • Finally the Racer network has two programs about the annual speed fest at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The first one is at 5 p.m. and the other starts 8 p.m.

• Friday and Saturday are empty except for NASCAR events.

• Sunday, starting at noon, Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Las Vegas. Then at 2 p.m. the network broadcasts the NHRA Nevada Nationals from the 4-Wide Strip at Las Vegas.

That’s it for this weekend. Want some fun, get out to the Trunk or Treat events and enjoy seeing the youngsters in costumes and how much fun it is for them. 

Then if possible attend a car meet or go out to Fernley to watch the team racing on Sunday. 

Don’t forget to reset your clocks back Saturday night.

And again, remember to reset your clocks Saturday night.

Area car clubs need to be at this meeting.

• If you are in a car club be sure to attend the 2026 Calendar Planning Meeting at the National Automobile Museum. Date is November 9 and Nevada Car Coalition is hosting the event.

Only a little over a month to go before the annual Reno Toy Rum happens.

• Since Christmas is coming want to give a heads up about the annual Reno Toy Run. It’s a great event that helps families in our region.

Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
